Archives] Nagorno-Karabakh War 2020. Thirty-two years after its creation, the self-proclaimed republic announced its self-dissolution, after fighting against the Azerbaijani army which completely destroyed its self-defense forces. The epilogue of an age-old conflict. The fighters in the enclave laid down their arms after the ceasefire agreement on September 20. The Azerbaijani authorities have pledged to let go those who complied. Nearly 90,000 refugees left Nagorno-Karabakh for Armenia. Today I am publishing some photos taken during the 2020 war which lasted 44 days. #nagornokarabakh #armenia #war #civil #photography #photo #photographer #journalism #photojournalism

War in Ukraine 26. In Kharkiv, the end of the year is marked by bombs and tinsel. Despite the background blaring sirens, the major city in eastern Ukraine tried to deck itself out in Christmas colors this year, attempting to create a festive atmosphere. A semblance of normalcy that remains difficult for residents to fully embrace. 1- Teenagers dressed in Soviet-era radiation suits and gas masks in Kharkiv, December 30, 2025. 2- Serhii Serhiyovych mourns his son Andrii, who died in combat in 2022 at the age of 24. Despite the holiday season, the war is still ongoing in Kharkiv, December 30, 2025. 5- A young woman poses near Christmas decorations in downtown Kharkiv on December 27, 2025. 6- As every Sunday, the families of missing soldiers demonstrate. War in Ukraine 25. Negotiations have sped up since Trump launched a diplomatic push to pressure Ukraine into accepting his peace plan. Officially, the draft agreement being worked on by U.S. and Ukrainian envoys originated in Florida during a meeting between Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, and Kirill Dmitriev, the Kremlin-linked head of Russia’s sovereign wealth fund. Unofficially, Dmitriev is said to have transmitted it on Putin’s orders. The key issue—the Ukrainian territories to be ceded (photo-8, Donetsk Oblast)—is at the heart of the talks. Trump is driving the process, forcing Zelensky to make concessions that violate Ukraine’s Constitution and lack support among society, politicians, and the military. Meanwhile, Russian strikes on cities and energy infrastructure have intensified. Improved Shahed drones kill civilians nightly (photo 7-Dnipro), and all regions are affected (photos 5–6- Kyiv). Even Kyiv’s defenses cannot stop every new-generation Shahed (photos 3-Zaporijia/4-Kyiv). On the front, fighting remains intense. A DaVinci Wolves fighter near Pokrovsk says: “We’ve been fighting so long—we didn’t lose so many comrades for nothing!” (photo-2). Behind the lines, stabilization points overflow with wounded (photo-9). Russian drones hinder evacuations. Sergiy (photo-10) needed five days to withdraw with eight comrades, many injured (photo-1). After two months on the frontline, a Russian drone riddled both his legs with shrapnel as he tried to rescue wounded comrades. Pour nous c’est déjà la rentrée ! S9 EP96 – Adrien Vautier. #podcastreporter #warsawphotographer #fuzipodcast

After nearly two years of civil war in Sudan, the conflict has triggered one of the largest displacement crises in the last decade. As of October 2024, over 3 million Sudanese have fled their country, seeking safety elsewhere. In this photo essay in The Game Magazine, Adrien Vautier of Le Pictorium brings us closer to the daily struggles and resilience of Sudanese refugees fleeing the ongoing civil war. Through powerful images captured in the border city of Adré, Chad, he tells visual stories of people, hardship, and extreme weather. 🔗 See more from the photo essay of @a.vtier via the link in bio. #weareIMAGO #photojournalism #lepictorium #adrienvautier #sudan #chad #sudaneserefugees

Chad 24. On the border between Chad and Sudan. Every day, dozens of Sudanese refugees flock to Adré. Nearly 600,000 have fled to Chad over the past year, after the two generals Abdel Fattah Al-Bourhane and Mohammed Hamdan Daglo, known as “Hemetti”, engaged in a life-and-death struggle for power in Khartoum. 1. Families who can afford it pay a few CFA francs to cross the border in a cart. 2. Fatima and her children have just arrived from Geneina in Sudan. Her last born, only one year old, suffers from malnutrition. As a result of the conflict, the food crisis in Sudan could lead to the most serious famine in 40 years. 3. This tire serves as a border between Chad and Sudan. Just behind the line drawn on the ground, Sudan, a country at war since spring 2023. 4. Once they arrive on the other side of the border, Sudanese refugee families must register with the CNARR. 5. A family of Sudanese refugees has just crossed the border with only a few belongings and a little water. Sudan is only 50 meters behind them. Since March 2024, 44,000 people have passed through this border post. With Boris Mabillard. #chad #sudan #refugees #crisis #war #photo #photography #photographer #journalism

Chad 24. Some refugees, fleeing the war in Sudan, come to settle just on the other side of the border to be safe. Installed in the middle of the desert, a few kilometers from the town of Koufroun, 4,000 families arrived during the last Ramadan. Too far from humanitarian aid infrastructures, families have to get by with little water and little food. With Boris Mabillard. #chad #sudan #refugees #crisis #photography #journalism

Chad 24. Sudan has been torn apart for fourteen months by a war between the regular army of General Burhane and the paramilitary forces of General Hemetti. Both camps are accused of increasing abuses against civilians. Nearly a quarter of Sudan’s 46 million people are now displaced. In Adré, a border town in Chad, refugees are arriving at the rate of a thousand per day. In one year, Chad has become one of the main host countries in the world with nearly 600,000 refugees in the East if we consider the number of refugees in relation to the population. New arrivals – 88% women and children – often arrive in poor health, malnourished, traumatized and injured, having survived horrific human rights violations, including physical attacks and gender-based violence, often with only the clothes they are wearing. In this transition camp, nearly 180,000 Sudanese live in very difficult conditions. The NGOs present on site can only meet 10% of needs.
