Senior Spotlight: Jana & Meleny 🎓

Jana joined ASB in 2016 as a 3rd grader and is now a graduating senior. She will be attending UCLA to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Nursing, with the goal of becoming a registered nurse.
Meleny also joined ASB in 2016 and has grown with the program since. She will be attending UCI to study Pharmaceutical Sciences, with plans to work in drug development research after college.
We are so proud of both of them as they step into this next chapter. 💜

A Step Beyond is closing its chapter as a Performing Arts Resident at the San Diego International Airport. ✈️
ASB has had the honor of performing in Terminal 1 with Migration: Making a Home in Transit, a piece that draws from performers’ lived experiences and explores how we define “home” amid changing environments and the complexities of everyday life.
Their final performance will take place on May 14th from 4:30–7:30 PM in Terminal 1.
Make sure to stop by and experience this final performance!

Janette is an ASB senior who will be attending High Point University in North Carolina, majoring in International Business.
Hana joined ASB in 3rd grade and has truly blossomed here. She plans to attend the University of Southern California as part of the Marshall School of Business, with hopes of minoring in fashion and one day launching her own brand.
We are so proud of these two as they prepare for graduation and what comes next. 💜

Young dancers performed in Terminal One Thursday afternoon at San Diego International Airport. Students and teachers work together to choreograph performances.
Big dreams start with moments like this. 💙
Our 8th graders took a trip to UCLA!
They explored campus, stopped by the university store, and visited the “cursed” Janss Steps (legend says a UCLA architect is buried under the 6th step). They also saw the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, the Hammer Museum, and touched the Bruin Bear statue’s paw for a little extra luck. 🐻
ASB alum Max also joined the tour as a current UCLA freshman!
Thank you to our amazing tour guides, Isabella and Julia. Our students had the best time and we can’t wait to see where their journeys lead next.

ASB students in grades 6th–11th, along with parents, joined UC San Diego’s conference Comienza con un Sueño, with 45 ASB participants in attendance.
UCSD hosted engaging workshops, campus tours, and a STEM fair. 🧪
This cultural celebration helps students see themselves in higher education, something we strive for every day as we support students in pursuing college or career pathways after graduation.
