@barlecote is a seafood tavern in Los Olivos, California. Inspired by the daily catch of the Central Coast and the modern cuisine of Europe’s seaside capitals, the team prepares thoughtful dishes in the casual, social atmosphere of the restaurant. The vibrant, green interior and custom banquettes were fabricated by @helveydesignstudio , and paintings of cowboys by @jonflaming hang on the walls. The restaurant is in the @companionhospitality family, co-owned by executive chef @abutchersson , along with Daisy and Greg Ryan, the duo behind @bellslosalamos . We recently updated the Bar Le Côte case study with new photography (@carterhiyama , @mattmorrisfilms ), type specimens, and wine labels from the past few years. @ac_vintage_designs painted the front door and menu box.

Taking cues from how typography interacts with space, we designed a system of custom pages and components that mirror that relationship, creating moments of balance and surprise while keeping the work of @a.plus.type front and center.
