In football, the word LEADER is often thrown around casually.
But every once in a while, you meet a player who truly lives it.
Adrián Luna is one of those players. 🎓
During my stint as Interim Head Coach, Adrian’s presence made an enormous difference — not just because of his football intelligence or his physical effort, but because of his humility 🫂, his openness to ideas 💡, and his constant attention to WE, not ME ⚽.
What I appreciated most was how he received me: with respect, curiosity, and collaboration.
As a coach, that gave me the freedom to be myself. It allowed us to talk, to explore ideas together — and to experiment with how best to use his profile.
When we struggled with playmaking from behind, Adrián agreed to step into the holding midfielder area. And what happened?
The game stabilized. Tempo improved. Transitions became cleaner. Possession became purposeful.
🎯 He became the facilitator.
🧠 He became the controller.
🎨 And he remained the creator.
His ability to interpret the game’s needs moment by moment is rare. At times, he would stretch the field with vertical runs to open corridors. Other times, he would pause between the lines, inviting pressure, knowing it would unlock the next phase. He just feels it — and acts.
@a.luna21 , I wish you all the very best in the next years of your career. You’ve shown what it means to lead, to care, and to elevate a team with your presence.
I’m looking forward to competing against each other one day — and I’m absolutely certain that when you choose to become a coach, you’ll be among the top, combining leadership, curiosity for the training process, and humbleness — the most powerful mix any coach can start with.
Thank you for everything, Leader. 👣
