It's me. I'm doing well. It's taken 9 months of therapy, dozens of yoga classes, some soul crushing conversations, and a handful of books to get to the point where I feel good about saying that. But I'm there, finally.
It doesn't mean that I'm not heartbroken, or trying downplaying the significance of last year in any way. It was the most impactful year of my life, by a long shot.
I'm just proud of myself for doing something about it. Taking that leap of faith. Asking for help. Owning and understanding my mistakes. And forgiving myself a little bit. But most importantly, I'm proud that I'm doing the work for myself.
That's all for now,
-Me.
"We can either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves strong. The amount of work is the same." - Carlos Castaneda
We got lucky. A sunny pow day in the Flathead Valley is more rare than dumb luck. So we made the most of it.
Parkin will have a fun story for everyone this fall. Maggie can herd 7 cats, give medical, and will ski hard in-between those moments. I still don't understand how Karl does it, but it's a joy to watch. And I'm looking forward to seeing Jake ski again. Whether it is a big line, or a ski retrieval.
Notes for the future: Always keep your keys in a safe place before an early start. Put syrup in a Stanley mug for easy dipping while driving. A 100-400mm lens is a better buy than a 400 prime. And don't panic when things go a little sideways.
Remember that guy I used to shoot photos with, Cody Seemann (@screamincmon )? He's retired now, and I'm desperate for athletes. So I've moved on to the next best thing. His nephew.
Fortunately for me, Cody's brother is my neighbor. So I'm going to spend the rest of winter working with this Olympic hopeful. Or maybe we'll keep feeding him nachos and let him develop some good core memories of skiing, so we'll always have a buddy to chase around the hill.
Admittedly, I miss working with uncle Coco (last pic). Hopefully I can drag him out of retirement this winter
Fun shoot & scoot with @townsendreed at the local landfill. Thanks to everyone for the laps and laughs yesterday.
Special thanks to @loveyogamontana for keeping us moving. And my new hips. I am very grateful for those right now 🕺.
Before we get too far into this winter, I would like to share with you one of my favorite days on skis. A permanent top 5 in my book.
This is the real gift of photography. To capture special moments like this. Witness a first kiss, and the giggles afterwards. To listen to vulnerable words as two people make a promise to each other. "We're in it together, no matter how big of a hill it is".
It was an honor to make sure these moments will last forever.
@danimalc & @davidpowdersteele wanted to have a classic day in the park with their sisters. Little bike, little ski. We had champagne and @fleurbakeshop cake on a ridge. And quite the downpour on our way home.
Forever thankful to this group for bringing me along and trusting me to capture the adventure.

18 months was long enough. I missed this feeling way too much.
I'd like to introduce y'all to this chunky little monkey.
She's already full of sass and spice, just the way I like it. Just like Georgia.
This little floof is here to help my broken brain find some peace. To remind me to go easy on myself. Reduce certain fears. And most importantly, love me on my bad days.

And every few hours she becomes Mega Charizard X or Charlie the Earth Roomba. Sometimes both at once.

Weekend at the Schaffer's. Lucky enough to start and end the season here. It's always a treat. Looking forward to seeing the blanket family next season.
Love, admiration and respect.
The last 12 days were something special. I was able to join @mollyarmanino & @mck_p in South Lake Tahoe as their pool boy and photographer. And it may be one of my favorite ski experiences to date.
Watching these two work together, ski and create filled my heart to the brim. And I cannot wait to see how Molly's film turns out ♥️.

Special thanks to big daddy @befu_foto and sweet @marcushoney for keeping me upright on the sled. And let's not forget big sexy @patinaeater for the art talks.
