Anchored by textural brickwork and softened with warm timber screening, the home opens gradually as you move through it revealing generous glazing, sheltered outdoor rooms and elevated views to the coastline beyond.
A sweeping skillion roof draws light deep into the plan, while the split-level courtyard connects the living spaces to a protected garden, creating year-round usability in a coastal environment.

MEREWETHER CLIFF HOUSE | Perched above the ocean, this home embraces a 180-degree outlook stretching south to Dudley Beach and sweeping north to Merewether. On a challenging, exposed site, the response was to harness the southerly views while providing protection from coastal elements and drawing warm northern light into the living spaces. A central courtyard offers refuge, with expansive glazing facing north to capture sunlight and allow natural cross ventilation throughout. The robust yet refined design is grounded in ivory honed blockwork and concrete, softened by a calming palette of natural stone and timber.

The client’s brief was clear: create an off-white kitchen, but make it anything but boring. Our approach? Layering textures and subtle tones to build a space that feels calm, inviting, and rich in detail.
We started with a base of soft white and beige, bringing in texture through natural stone, handcrafted tiles, and pale timber. The curved island bench, adds depth and a sense of grounding, while the glazed tiles introduce a subtle sheen that catches the light beautifully. Pale ash flooring complements the palette, creating warmth without overpowering the space.
The result is a light-filled kitchen that feels effortlessly relaxing yet refined—a perfect place for the family to gather.

Designed for multigenerational living, the home balances functionality and tranquility. The curved island bench in the kitchen, incorporating natural stone, becomes a focal point for gathering, while floor-to-ceiling glass windows offer views of the pool and beyond, allowing the sea breeze to flow through.
Throughout the home, a neutral palette of natural stone, ash flooring, American oak joinery and handmade tiles adds warmth and sophistication, while thoughtful details cater to the needs of a growing family. THE HILL ANCHOR HOUSE | A late 19th Century heritage terrace has been adapted to create a modern home for family living. The entry level is expanded to create a large open plan living area and deck. At the lower level, a new pool connects with more internal living areas, anchored into the side of the hill. With the western orientation dictated by the site, it was important that the design allowed the owners to control the western sun and weather. This is achieved through retractable awning roofs and blinds that manage the quality of the outdoor and indoor spaces. The result is a versatile, practical and alluring family home.
