this months art letter felt especially meaningful to create because I had several reminders throughout the month how deeply connected our lives can be in ways we don’t even realize at first.
what started as a conversation with my acupuncturist about stress, tension, and the nervous system led me to the linden tree, known for its calming and restorative properties. but what surprised me most was realizing i’ve actually been connected to this tree for years.
before painting, I started with pyrography and the wood I worked on the most was basswood, another name for the American linden tree 🥲
something about that realization felt full circle and a cut little reminder that parts of ourselves never leave us but return in new forms. in new seasons!!

I titled her “windin’ down” because it’s the canvas I always reached for to wipe off my paint brushes after a painting session. I had no plan or intention for it past wanting to wipe off the excess oil paint and over time it became a ritual to wind down after i’ve been zoomed into a painting for hours.
I don’t do much abstract but there’s so much beauty and freedom in it. I figured I might as well list it on my website and start another canvas to wind down with 💌
