So I wrote my own version of lyrics where the father who loves his daughter reminds her of her value. Being careful with who she chooses to love.

After much anticipation, I can finally announce my second SELFHOOD dream, titled: ๐๐ณ๐ข ๐ฎ๐ช ๐ต๐ฐ๐ฑ๐ข ๐ฎ๐ช ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ด.ย
Ora mi topa mi mes, is an ode to Afro-Caribbean womanhood and an invitation for us to rest, to slow down, to return to (our) nature. Through intimate portraits, amazing @_watra sounds and honest conversations, the series explores the ways in which Afro-Caribbean women can reclaim their selfhood - one that moves beyond their role as caretakers, workers, providers and carriers of society.
As such, this new body of work unfolds real Caribbean rest stories -ย informed by culture, history and lived experiences, while reimagining a well-rested future.
Ora mi topa mi mes, is part of my ongoing audio-visual series SELFHOOD. SELFHOOD debuted in the Netherlands and is now ready to be experienced in Curaรงao. I almost canโt believe it myself, but then again we manifested this.ย

WATRA's diary series throwback ๐ธ๐
The best thing is noticing my own flaws and habits that I've outgrown. One being singing from my throat and not using my diaphragm properly to support my vocals. In this video I can clearly see and hear it back.
Still love this video though and the creativity that resulted from restlessness. Getting me back into a new found space of rest.
