Turning Tables is an initiative that brings people together trough conversations and food.
We host two taalcafés per week. Every Monday at stichting Argan, starting from 18:30, with dinner afterwards.
Every Friday at MidWest at 16:00 with tea and snacks.
Everybody is welcome to come by, we teach at all levels! 💚
Once a month we have a communitydinner where we cook together and enjoy live performances of members from our community. Check our posts to know when the next dinner will be!
Turning Tables invites you to take a seat at the table, there where stories are being shared, unfolded, and discovered.
📍 Open Sit-in by Yemeni Asylum Seekers in The Netherlands 🇾🇪
Since April 29, Yemeni asylum seekers have continued their peaceful sit-in in front of the IND in The Hague, calling for fair asylum procedures and greater recognition of the ongoing war, humanitarian crisis, and unsafe conditions in Yemen.
Recent court rulings and international reports continue to raise concerns about the current assessment of Yemen and the high number of asylum rejections despite the worsening situation in the country.
Therefore, we invite everyone to join and show solidarity with Yemeni asylum seekers in their call for justice, dignity, and humanity.
📍 Main gathering:
Friday, May 15
⏰ 14:30 – 17:00
IND – The Hague(Rijnstraat 8, 2515 XP Den Haag) (next to ministry of Foreign Affairs)
@yemenisnl , @_turningtables , @yemeni.breeze and @doorbraak.eu stand in solidarity with Yemeni asylum seekers.
Sit-in organized by:

Every year on may 4th The Netherlands remembers Dutch soldiers who have fallen in battle or Dutch lives that have been lost due to war, since the second world war.
Turning Tables thinks that all victims of war and colonialism deserve rememberance. We refuse solely remembering the lives of the Dutch, while we are currently witnessing genocides and the killing of so many innocent people.
With this intention we are participating in laying down a flower wreath, at plein 40-45 this Monday.
Our flower wreath contains the national flowers of the countries represented in our community, who are living through horrifying realities as we speak. (As visible on the beautiful poster designed by @lydia_agnes_flora ).
Poppies for Palestine.
Hibiscus for Sudan.
Water Lillies for Congo.
Coffea arabica for Yemen.
Cyclamen for Lebanon.
And these are just some of the countries living through the horrors of our time, partially or in whole supported by the Dutch state.… so this Monday we will lay our resistance flowers, and we will pray for and remember all the people who deserve rememberance.
We hope to see you there 🤍❤️🩹
