Peace 🌞 I felt called to do an updated intro post, so here it goess.
My name is Sunny, I’m a multi-passionate creative from the DMV w/ focuses in visual arts (
@s_nn.yside ), DJing (
@djbbythey ), & third space curation for Black LGBTQIA+ folx (
@_trihouse ) 💫
I’ve been a creative since I can remember, but became more consistent w/ my arts practices back in 2020 — it started w/ creating digital portraits using my iPhone 8 & a homemade stylus, to now w/ numerous forms of expression. Mediums I enjoy include pen illustrations, acrylic, collage, beaded jewelry, print making, nature photography, and hand-painted clothing/accessories.
I founded Trihouse back in 2021, originally dedicated to being a space for me to share my artwork. Along my journey, as a creative and Black Queer & Trans person, my desire for safe spaces to build community in was what pushed me to create a space for us. In 2023, Trihouse officially launched w/ our first event in Richmond, VA! Since then, we’ve been building, growing, & doing our best to maintain a safe space for our Black Queer & Trans community. Past events have included elements like intentional prompts, making beaded jewelry, crafting custom teas blends, planting seeds, writing love letters to yourself, themed parties, a night market, outdoor movie night, food & clothing drive, & so much more.
My DJ journey began in 2023– my love for music, community, & the ability to blend my favorite songs is what kept me consistent, esp being able to make my own Go-Go flips. Some of my favorite genres to mix are Go-Go (ofc), R&B, Southern & Alternative Hip-Hop, Afrobeats, Baltimore & Jersey Club, House, Atlanta & Miami Bass, Baile Funk, Reggaeton, & much more.
Check out any of the pages I tagged above to get more familiar w/ me & my creative journey 🫀 thank y’all for being here!
