The hardest part about making this film on creative block…
was actually going through creative block while making it. 🤦♂️
Life really said, “Oh, you wanna talk about struggle? Bet!” and went all out. But honestly? Those months of late nights, self-doubt, and nearly quitting taught me more than I expected. Sometimes the struggle really IS the story.
And honestly, I wasn’t alone in this. Every single person in this film has been through their own version of this mess - and hearing their stories reminded me we’re all just figuring it out as we go.
Big thanks to everyone who participated and helped make this happen - you’re the real MVPs 🙌
Full film drops August 10th! - and it’s for anyone who’s ever felt stuck, lost, or not enough.
Because sometimes, the block is the breakthrough.

From working title to “The Audacity to Dream: Tales of Reformation and Abolition”
I remember this beginning as an Audio Trail about Frederick Douglass, then came my short film “We Must Go On” about Ira Aldridge then the pleasure of learning about another historical figure; Alice Arnold first woman mayor of Coventry. Then the idea of exploring another medium: theatre, which if you know me you know how much I love 🎭 🤩
After weeks of research and gathering archives from Coventry Herbert Art Gallery I finally wrote the script and begin my directing journey with the help of @rasemmanuelle who led this project with such enthusiasm and intentionality. We finally got to showcase our little play in front of an audience!
A thousand thank yous to the amazing cast and crew who helped bring these three historical figures to life.
Thank you to my Creator who paves opportunities for me to be creative 🙏🏽 my cup overflows
Keep an eye out for the film which will encapsulate the process and the final performance 🎥
Abolitionist Frederick Douglass visit to Coventry is mentioned briefly in St Mary’s Guildhall, at the start of 1845 he spent 19 months in the UK delivering anti-slavery lectures to buy back his freedom, a brief moment of his expansive life I knew nothing about, over the last few months with the role of Assistant Producer I joined a team to delve into this part of his story and creatively retell it through audio, a medium I love.
On Thursday 22nd we had a launch of our project Digital Douglass, where we did a reenactment of the audio piece followed by fruitful conversations.
I’m so thankful to have worked with a team that is equal parts talented as they’re intentional
