It’s been a while since I last posted here, as it often goes. Sometimes we don’t see our own work as presentable, even after exhibitions and kind feedback. But now, I’m finally convinced myself and happy to share this piece with the digital world. Hope you enjoy it.
This work took me two years to complete. Like many of my pieces, it revolves around collecting and understanding. It’s like a three-dimensional puzzle, but instead of trying to control it, I surrender to the material, interfering as little as possible. The fragments themselves shape the process.

The roots of the work which is presented here deal with the question of identity, as well as with the understanding of the country of Israel from the perspective of the artist himself. However, he exercises this perspective from a purely bird's eye view. In order to understand the country and its people, he went on various journeys and collected ceramic fragments from all corners of the country. The two sculptures shown are in a kind of communication with each other, one that was assembled from fragments and its reproductions in black clay. The reproduction, which is supposed to reflect the shadow of the original, stands here for the future and not for the past, with which we normally associate the shadow.

Für eine Rauminstallation in Kooperation und enger Zusammenarbeit
mit dem Video-Künstler Ümüt Yildiz entwarfen wir eine lebensgroße Vase. Das Thema der Vasen in verschiedenen Größen, Techniken
begleitet Elmpt-Habel in seinen aktuellen Schaffungsprozessen. Dabei spielen klassische Techniken und Materialien, wie Druck und Keramik, sowie eine fließende, organische Formsprache eine
essentielle Rolle.
Die hier ausgestellte Vase zeigt jedoch eine bisher noch nicht gezeigte Facette. Einerseits erinnert die Form des Objekts an antike Vasen und Wasserkrüge; andererseits zeigen die ausgearbeiteten Löcher und Aussparungen die Spuren des Verfalls und der Verwitterung über die Jahrhunderte hinweg. Das Thema des Wassers wird in dieser
Installation im Zusammenspiel zwischen Keramik und medialem Bespielen in einem überraschenden, dystopischen Wandel bearbeitet.
Die Visualisierung der Installation besteht aus Wasserklängen sowie Geräuschen aus Kriegen und Demonstrationen. Das Zusammenspiel
der subjektiv erfahrenen Klänge von stillem Wasser und Tumult verweist auf zukünftige Wasserkriege. Das Video selbst wird abstrakt gehalten und erinnert an Werke von Carsten Nicolai oder Nam Yun Paik. Die Verfälschung durch bestimmte Algorithmen, fügen die Komposition aus einfachen Elementen, wie Punkten und Linien, mit Kriegsszenarien zu einer sogenannten Glitch zusammen.
