Marking the 52nd anniversary of the Dublin and Monaghan bombings, which happened on this day in 1974.
Anyone who has been to The Bunker has passed this article in the hallway, or this plaque along the footpath outside, possibly wondering what it is or maybe taking an interest and reading through.
As I leave this studio this evening, I feel it’s important to acknowledge an important part of the fabric and history of this city, with one of the bombs going off right outside the building here on Talbot St. - Atrocities carried out by the UVF.
This photo and article were left in the rooms when I first took on the space. It wasn’t something I wanted to leave out at the beginning so I stored it away and forgot about it for 5 years, until I began work on the studio as it is now - and then felt it was an important part of of the community.
To this day no one has been charged for these crimes.

It’s still in progress, and is gradually getting there, but I wanted to share this as some people have asked what the space is for, and if can it be hired… yes it can!
When I took this room in Feb ‘22, the initial plan was to create a production / podcast space, but I realised pretty quickly that with the noise from the Talbot street it just wouldn’t work. (Thankfully @_theneststudio now has that covered😌)
So it then became a place for Bunker bands and myself to store equipment, and a place to meet and work from. It has also had some recording and writing sessions, as well as a therapist who books slots for sessions with their clients.
It can be hired hourly or daily for anyone looking for an office base to work from or have meetings at; all in the city centre, and with a top floor view.
It’s become an invaluable space for myself and the team, and for any admin, editing and design work that i’ve had to do over the past few years. Definitely a more professional setup for when people are in rehearsing/recording downstairs too.
Something I didn’t necessarily need to do, but something that felt right, especially after saying yes, then no, then yes again 😅
