I'm delighted to say that @seatosummituk will once again be supporting The Land Between.
Satisfying the needs of the lightweight crowd with superlight sleeping bags and mats, through to the luxury traveller, wanting the best cookware and lightweight tents, @seatosummit produce some of the best bikepacking kit out there.
Here is a Spark sleeping bag, Ether Light XR mat, and Alto 1 footprint in action in a bus shelter in the Pyrenees at the start of the winter.
Equally applicable to a derelict building in the North Pennines 🫠
Riders looking to build up their kit ahead of the 2026 Land Between, check out the bio for a helping hand ☝️
Weekend of 22nd + 23rd May 2027.
A one day event in The Heart of The Land Between.
Going fast will be hard.
Completion will be an achievement.
Put it in your diary.
Following last weekend's get together, I asked those who attended for feedback and their thoughts on future events.
Thanks to those who shared their thoughts; I've read all your responses, just not got round to answering them all yet!
So in summary; great friendly crowd, even if some were a little 'enthusiastic' early on!
A good mix of road and off road, if a little road heavy. I was aware of that and it was a deliberate move (there were more off road options we could have included). 65 hilly miles in winter conditions was plenty I felt and I wanted it to be challenging but not soul searching!
Everyone loved The Rose & Thistle and the food they serve! But the jury was split between too many chips and not enough 🤷 Either way, everyone was full after a huge block of sticky toffee pudding 😋

A taste of @_thelandbetween social ride out 🧭
Cracking day out up to Alwinton and back. The route takes in some of Northumberland’s best gravel and back roads with sections of The Land Between’s 512km Bikepacking Ultra route.
Great to meet and ride with some different people 🤝

What an absolute cracker of a day! A big turn out and nice to see people arrive early, with enough time for a coffee in the excellent @themarketplacemorpeth
After the quiet roads to Harwood, everyone enjoyed the stunning views of the Cheviots and the classic descent to Hepple.
Great food in the Rose & Thistle at Alwinton (including A LOT of sticky toffee pudding) followed by the deserted lanes of north Northumberland and some classic off-road into Rothbury.
The rain (and hail!) came down but no spirits were damped! Kudos to everyone who made the effort to come, some from a great distance, and ride 60 miles + over some chunky climbs, rough ground, and 'inclement' weather.
It was also great to hear riders new to The Land Between saying that the social ride gave them a chance to understand more about the event, and ask questions to those who have done the event before. Thanks to everyone for being so welcoming and such good company.
Shall we do it again some time?

Keep an eye on your emails and junk folders folks.
If you have a place for the 2026 The Land Between, you will have received a welcome email as well as the key event information.
Let the thought of short sleeves in the beer garden of the fantastic Rose & Thistle in Alwinton carry you through the rest of the winter!
Spring is just around the corner! (ish!)

If you have a place, please keep an eye on your emails in the next week or so.
As the numbers are substantial, The Rose & Thistle will be offering a special menu and I'll send you out the options soon. We just want to help them keep things running smoothly as they will also have their usual weekend trade.
Looking forward to it!

Happy New Year to all you Land Betweeners!
The Land Between 2026 will of course be held in dreamy dry and warm conditions once again, but getting out in all weathers is good insurance and I've enjoyed following your winter rides!

+ The Rose & Thistle
A Taste of The Land Between – 28th February 9am.
We will meet in Morpeth Town Square for a 9am departure to return at the end of the day.
We will ride out to The Land Between HQ: the fantastic Rose & Thistle in Alwinton. Almost the end of the road in England, it is a unique and picturesque setting. Lunch will be served from approximately 12:30, after which we will return back to Morpeth on a different route, forming a loop.
This will be a group ride but not led. You will receive a GPX for the route. You can ride at your own pace and go as fast or slow as you wish. Each way will be approximately 30 miles and will include stunning gravel sections and quiet roads. It is not flat. It will likely be wet, cold, or both. We will ride regardless, so come prepared and with a self-sufficient mindset. Please bring lights for the return.
If you would like to join the ride, please email me: [email protected] The pub can cater for up to 40 people so this will be the cap for the ride. There is no cost other than your food at the pub.
Morpeth has a mainline train station, hotels and other accommodation. Why not make a weekend of it and kickstart your Spring training by exploring The Land Between?
Saturday 28th February 2026.
All day social ride.
Superb riding. Great food. Good people.
We ride whatever the weather. Embrace the winter.
More information to follow soon.
I am extremely happy to say that the 2026 edition of The Land Between is now full.
If you would like to be added to the waiting list, please message me with your email address.
In the next few weeks, I will be sending out the event info and welcome pack but for now, thank you to everyone who has entered. I hope you have a great winter of riding and adventure.
Keep your eye on the page for event news and updates and feel free to ask any questions.
Can't wait to see you all in beautiful Northumberland!
