Harmeet K. Dhillon, U.S. Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division, just published a bombshell allegation, after a year-long investigation into Yale’s School of Medicine. The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Civil Rights Division found that Yale’s leadership “intentionally selected applicants based on their race.” Yale allegedly used “racial proxies to circumvent the Supreme Court’s prohibition on using race” for admissions. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 2023 that using race-conscious affirmative action for admissions at colleges and universities was unconstitutional. The DOJ pointed to Yale medical school admissions data from 2023, 2024, and 2025 that showed that “Black and Hispanic students had a much higher chance of admission…than white or Asian students with the same test scores.”  In 2025, the median MCAT score was 518 for admitted Black students, 517 for Hispanic students, and 524 for white and Asian students — out of 528. The median GPA was 3.88 for admitted Black students, 3.91 for Hispanic students, 3.97 for white students, and 3.98 for Asian students. The investigation didn’t address other factors Yale may use in its holistic admissions process, such as essays, transcripts, recommendation letters, and interviews.  “The students admitted to Yale School of Medicine demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and personal commitment,” Yale spokesperson Karen Peart wrote in an email to Washington Post. “Yale School of Medicine is confident in the rigorous admissions process we follow.” Yale isn’t the only university under scrutiny. The DOJ has also been investigating medical school admissions at UCLA, Stanford, Ohio State, and UC San Diego. The DOJ sued Harvard in February for failing to provide admissions data. Khushi Jain, a lifestyle creator, knew she just had to turn her destination wedding in India into content. But she didn’t want to make all the reels herself, so she hit on a better idea: why not hire a team to do it instead? “I had an Excel sheet of every reel, trend, and transition,” Jain told The Juggernaut. Her dedicated list mapped out everything from outfit reveals and behind-the-scenes clips to choreographed dance entrances and lip-syncs. We’re obsessed with weddings, whether on-screen or off. Kiara Advani and Sidharth Malhotra’s wedding video racked up over 76 million views on Instagram. Mahira Khan’s 2023 wedding photos garnered over 1.9 million likes on Instagram. But something has shifted in the last couple of years. Pixel-perfect wedding photos and videos have ceded ground to made-for-social reels and TikToks, replete with trending audio and a creator hovering near the altar with a phone. Enter the new must-have wedding expense: a wedding content creator. So how did we get here? We spoke to couples, wedding content creators, and experts to find out. When Neelam Heera was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) — now known as polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PMOS) — as a teen, her family told her to keep it to herself, fearing it could impact her fertility and, thus, her desirability as a wife. “I’m judged by having these conditions,” Heera told The Juggernaut. A scientific consortium officially renamed PCOS, calling it “inaccurate,” in a paper published in The Lancet on May 12. PMOS is a condition that affects 12.5% of women, in which the ovaries produce an abnormal amount of androgens, a male sex hormone usually present in women in small amounts. High androgen levels can cause irregular menstrual cycles; body hair growth; weight gain; acne; thinning hair; and fertility concerns.  In the last 10 years, studies show that PMOS could be more severe and prevalent among South Asians — but due to the ways it can manifest, getting an accurate diagnosis can take a long time or never happen at all.  Revisit this story by Olivia Bowden at the link in bio, then click this image 🔗

“Who gives away Chanel?” Simone Ashley delivers in almost a purr as Amari, Miranda Priestly’s new first assistant in The Devil Wears Prada 2. Anne Hathaway’s Andy, now older but perhaps not wiser, just admitted that she gave away the designer wardrobe she acquired while at Runway magazine 20 years ago. Needless to say, Amari is not impressed. Just two weekends in, The Devil Wears Prada 2 has set eye-watering records, hauling in $433 million at the box office — nearly matching its lifetime haul of the 2006 original’s $534 million (already adjusted for inflation). The franchise is all over our feeds. As is Simone Ashley, the British Tamil star whose wardrobe in the film has a fanbase of its own. Ashley actually wrote the memorable Chanel line herself. But it’s also one of the few complete sentences she gets to utter in the entire film. So why does Hollywood keep giving Simone Ashley the short end of the stick? We spoke to experts and superfans to find out. Read the full story by Sadaf Ahsan at the link in bio, then click this image 🔗 #simoneashley #devilwearsprada

Anil Kochhar just gifted the American Dream to 176 students to honor his father. The healthcare exec went viral at the May 8 graduation, saying he’d pay off final-year student loans for North Carolina State Wilson College of Textiles graduates. His father, Prakash, came to the U.S. from Punjab in 1946 to study textile manufacturing. “He was the second Indian to show up in this college,” a tearful Kochhar said. “We have unshackled some of that [debt] so you can go out with greater freedom.”

Mira Nair just found her newest star: Anjali Sivaraman.  The actor, seen in Netflix’s #Class, will play artist Amrita Sher-Gil in the filmmaker’s biopic #AMRI.  Nair and casting director Dilip Shankar auditioned over 100 actors across Mumbai, London, and New York. They chose Sivaraman for her performance and resemblance to Sher-Gil. Nair is known for her casting magic, including debuting Irrfan Khan in Salaam Bombay! (1988), Sarita Choudhury in Mississippi Masala (1991), and Randeep Hooda in Monsoon Wedding (2001). “My casting is from instinct,” she told The Juggernaut. The project has been in the works for years. Nair told The Juggernaut in 2020 that she was working on the script. She compared Amrita Sher-Gil (1913-41) to Frida Kahlo because of their independence and early, tragic pain.  “Every film I make, my lookbooks, my inspirations are so much from her palette,” Nair told The Juggernaut. “I have carried her in my heart and my eyes for decades.”  Sher-Gil was born to Sikh aristocrat Umrao Singh Sher-Gil and Hungarian opera singer Marie Antoinnette Gottesman. She studied in Europe and was known for her post-impressionist style — but really came into her own after touring India.  Her oil painting, “Young Girls,” won her a gold medal from Paris’s Grand Salon in 1933. The Salon made her its youngest member; she was the only Asian with the distinction.  She died at age 28 from what some believe to be a botched abortion. Though few of her paintings sold during her life, her “Village Scene” went for $1.5 million in 2006, the most expensive painting sold in India at the time. Cast members include Emily Watson as Sher-Gil’s mother; Jaideep Ahlawat as her father; Krisztián Csákvári as Victor Egan; Anjana Vasan as her sister, Indira; Jim Sarbh as Karl Khandalavala, and Priyanka Chopra as Madame Azurie.  “She gives me courage every time I think I’m losing my way. What better than to pay homage to a woman beyond her time?” Nair told The Juggernaut.  Read our profiles of Mira Nair (@pagliji ) and Amrita Sher-Gil at the link in bio, then click this image 🔗

Actor Vijay was just sworn in as Tamil Nadu’s chief minister after pulling off a major upset. “This is a new beginning,” he told thousands at Chennai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium during the May 10 ceremony, which his wife and kids skipped, NDTV reported. His party, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, won the most seats, 108, in state elections but was short of a majority. After negotiations, Vijay formed a coalition that made him chief minister, ending over 50 years of rule by the DMK and AIADMK parties. Vijay ran on a platform focused on fighting corruption, countering incumbents, and enacting welfare programs such as cash transfers to women. He also focused on young and first-time voters, asking them tell their parents to vote for him.
