thank you, thank you again to everyone who came to the first PAUSE FOR POETRY, a revival of dedicated spoken word paired with an open mic … in college, there was a coffee shop my friends and I went to nearly every tuesday night. it was the first time I stepped up to a mic to share my poetry. it wasn’t as scary as I thought it would’ve been, and it gave me inspiration to keep writing, knowing there were people out there that were willing to sit and listen. even if it was only a moment of their time, it gave me reason to share.
in such strange times in media and violent times of culture, community feels more important than ever. so thank you to everyone for showing me that people still care for the arts and supporting one another in their dreams. hope to do it all over again 🌟♥️ (big shoutout @saba_surf for letting me host!!!)
Poetry books that have squeezed my heart tight, made me cry in public places, and nearly thrown me from my senses … enjoy 💌 I have a full review of THE MOON IS ALWAYS FEMALE live on my Substack 📖✨ Take a gander through the link in my biooooo
I had a weird moment last week where I tried to pitch my book to a bookstore and they immediately turned me away because it was self-published. It brought up a familiar embarrassment and shame for not having an agent yet, which pressures me to make better content, have more followers, and manage an Amazon bestseller. Spend more money on ads and giveaways and cross my fingers.
I don’t always have the energy or the self-belief, but I remembered I have the joy. So I just wanted to take a moment and talk about my newest publication, because I should be proud for pouring my words out. Designing this book from front to back. It’s not perfect by any means, but it’s a labor of love.
Available just about anywhere. Thank you for being here and reading, if you made it this far 💌
Thank you Facebook Marketplace, thank you TaskRabbit, and thank you to timing and fate 🙂↕️ I’ve always, always wanted a statement piece like this in my home but never thought I’d have the space or money for it until I was older, but sometimes we get lucky and dreams arrive early 🛎️
