This is a full circle moment for so many reasons. To be featured in @essence discussing how my internship there set the tone for my career trajectory is one thing. To be featured alongside my girls and fellow summer 2013 interns @mayaalenaa and @sylviaobell as well as meeting the inspirational @briannaarps is another thing. But to do all of that in the 55th Anniversary issue with THEE @iamsusanltaylor on the cover feels like the kind of divine alignment that reminds you that you’re on the right path. I’m so grateful. Thank you @dvniellewright and @essencegu_ for highlighting my story in this special issue. And special shoutout to @starr_ceska for always being so clutch with the makeup! Catch me in the July/August issue of Essence on stands now!

Still sitting in gratitude from my time in conversation with @natasharothwell on the main stage at Essence Fest. Loved hearing her talk about purpose and seeing her passion through with her forthcoming show “How To Die Alone.” Sharing the stage with you was such a joy, Natasha. And @letoyaluckett , an original Child of Destiny, introducing me to the stage while “Not Like Us” plays is something I’m forever going to be pinching myself over. This was very much a bucket list experience for me in more ways than one. Many thanks to @onyxcollective /@hulu for the opportunity. Shoutout to my bestie @goldieplusmodel and my cool photographer homies who captured the moment. 🤎 📸 1 and 7: @moresoupplease 📸 3, 5 and 6: @kidnoble

Me and my hands getting the opportunity to speak with these amazing multi-hyphenates at @culturecon was definitely a highlight. @therealcandiace , @judgefaithjenkins and @preston.mitchum dropped some serious gems about what it means to follow your gut, mitigate self-doubt and knowing when to say no and when to say yes. We’re all figuring this life thing out together so it’s always refreshing to hear from folks who keep it real about their journey, and baby real was kept! Huge thanks again to @ariannafregoso , @swdupes these fabulous panelists and everyone who came up to me with affirming words afterwards. Y’all are everything. 🥹

Introducing Glamour and Grit Salon Series, where creatives and entrepreneurs join me for candid conversations about culture, media, and career. As an extension of my @ebonymagazine article, I spoke with veteran journalist @_tarynitup about the evolving media landscape—from the tension between journalists and digital creators to why visibility and self-promotion are now essential parts of the job. We also unpacked a bigger truth: in today’s media environment, you can’t hide behind the byline anymore. Glamour and Grit Takeaway: “Our contract is with the public.” Journalism and content creation are no longer separate lanes? they’re increasingly overlapping, reshaping how stories are told and who gets to tell them. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this conversation 💗✨

Megan Thee Stallion saying she felt like she had to push through her body telling her to rest hit a little too close to home. So I wrote about it. Read and subscribe to letsstayconnected.substack.com. Link in bio. Even during the busiest days, I hope you find time for your mind, body and spirit to be still.

Watching Sinners’ story unfold from premiere to awards season has been truly special. Ryan Coogler, Michael B. Jordan and Autumn Durald Arkapaw saw historic wins at the Academy Awards on Sunday, taking home four Oscars in total. They deserved that and more. The impact Sinners continues to make surpasses what any one award show could offer them (though the NAACP Image Awards came the closest). The Oscars Oscar’d. Nothing new there. (Justice for Delroy Lindo!) But I know that you know that they know that we know that Sinners was far better than OBAA and will be a film referenced and studied for years to come. Sinners will inspire generations of filmmakers, storytellers and actors to lead with their hearts to make transformative art. That’s more significant than any validation from one institution. (They look good holding that gold, though!) Read my latest on @refinery29 at the link in my bio.

Just in time for Oscars weekend, I wrote a lil something for @ebonymagazine highlighting 30 Gen Z stars who are taking over the industry. Some you know very well and some you’re probably just being introduced to. All of them deserve their shine✨ Check out the full list at the link in my bio!
