Thank you for the feature Elle Decor China. Just three minutes’ walk from the Thames, the founders of Studio ŪMA Michelle and Amber reimagined a classic English townhouse, transforming it into a 150㎡ sanctuary where life and work intertwine. With reverence and restraint, emptiness is given meaning — the spirit of the East quietly unfolds, where stillness and motion find their balance, and freedom flows without boundaries. “We’ve always been searching for a space that could embrace both living and creating,” Michelle said. “In the past, our home and studio were separate, but over time we realized we wanted a more integrated, fluid way of being. The new home perfectly fulfills this vision. It’s not only where my family and I live, but also where Studio ŪMA’s creative energy thrives. You could call it a ‘live–work’ space, designed with thoughtful zoning so that the two worlds remain distinct yet symbiotic.” @elledecorationcn @elledecor Photography @kennethlam____ Outfit @cahaya.studios Special thanks to @dtr0814 @gegend_galerie

Thank you, @dezeen for the interview and for including us in your article on minimalism vs maximalism. Honoured to be featured alongside such inspiring company. “Next year should be about curating spaces that feel intuitive, layered and culturally inspired, without being literal or pastiche,” Studio ŪMA on 2026 Design Trend. In Yimin’s lounge, a painting by March Avery sits at the heart of the main living space. Its colours quietly carry through the room, shaping the home’s overall mood — calm, balanced, and easy in its flow. There’s a sense that time has settled here gently, building up in layers and giving the interior a quiet feeling of change and continuity. The sofa, long part of the owners’ life, has been reupholstered by the designer in velvet by @delecuona , giving it a renewed presence within the space.

A quiet moment in Yimin’s home, the reception area anchored by a bespoke cabinet, commissioned to house her tea ware collection gathered over the years. Crafted in ash and oak, the piece brings warmth and restraint to the space. Resting above, Pablo Reinoso’s Maquette 13 Bench 03 from @waddingtoncustot introduces a sculptural bronze texture that creates a refined dialogue between wood and metal. Photography @felixspeller

We are grateful to have met Yimin and her family throughout this journey of designing their serene home, full of bubbly laughters and so much love. Every material, texture, light and shadow was carefully considered to create an atmosphere that feels both intimate and poetic, yet functional. A heartfelt thank you to AD China @adchina_official for featuring this project and sharing the story behind this home with such care. We are really thrilled to see this vision resonate beyond its walls.

Thank you @adchina_official @ad_magazine for featuring our residential project. This terraced home in West London belongs to a family of three taking a pause from their nomadic lifestyle. For years, the couple divided their time between Beijing, San Francisco, and Lisbon, before finally settling in London. Designed by Studio UMA, the home embraces a restrained aesthetic. We intentionally kept the decoration minimal, choosing not to define the family’s way of living too rigidly, but instead to create a space that can naturally evolve and grow alongside them. Tea house Gégend @gegend_galerie designed by us, a quiet dialogue between texture, light, and ritual. Featured in the Ferm Living City Guide @fermliving , captured through the lens of Felix Speller @felixspeller A space where warm minimalism meets thoughtfulcraftsmanship, inviting stillness in every detail. 🍵 Tucked above street level near Old Street, Gegend is a tea house and cultural space rooted in Eastern sensibilities. High-grade Chinese teas are served with care and precision in a room of warm natural materials and considered proportions - a rare pocket of stillness in one of London's most frenetic neighbourhoods. A space for an unhurried afternoon or an evening spent immersed in one of their numerous events. - Ferm Living City guide

The time, lingered. Villa Necchi Campiglio, a quiet constant in our imagination. An enduring source of inspiration, we return with deep respect to its light, its stillness, its grace.

“Time is not edited out in Studio Ūma’s interiors; it registers and deepens the context. In Her Room Breathes, staged in a historic Shanghai warehouse, artworks and furniture, including Scarpa, Jeanneret and Maurer, met contemporary pieces in a setting that resisted East-West binaries, proposing a third register shaped by light, stance and breath. “ Ark Journal VOL XV Thank you @arkjournal for featuring our studio and our Shanghai showcase project - Her Room Breathes, with support from @larrys_list @official101plus

Thank you @elledecorationcn for featuring two of our residential projects for International Women’s Day. Two interiors with contrasting spatial identities, including the home of our co-founder Michelle—each an expression of the owner’s individuality, taste, and inner world.

Holland Park Flat | London We reimagined the dining and lounging spaces as one continuous space. Layers of collectible modular designs anchor the openness — sculptural yet adaptable pieces that bring depth, tactility, and quiet character. Each element is considered as part of a larger composition.
