Ayumi lamp series, 2025.
We selected a collection of handmade Japanese washi papers to shape the lampshades of the Ayumi series.
Each sheet is unique: natural fibers, organic inclusions, and subtle imperfections reveal a slow, deeply artisanal process.
Washi paper has a history of over 1,300 years and is traditionally made from plants such as kōzo, mitsumata, and gampi. Used in art, architecture, and everyday objects, it is valued for its strength and its ability to diffuse light in a soft, immersive way.
These papers come from the work of @itowokashi.04 , a Japanese artisan preserving traditional techniques while reinterpreting them with a contemporary sensibility.
A material research that becomes light.
