My birthday gift from my son Tyler, commemorating his Basic Training graduation with our coat of arms. We’ve had a lot of servicemen and women in our family, dating back to pre-revolutionary war on my mother’s side of the family. This was thoughtful, and unexpected. I’ll be putting his photo in the middle section.

Touched down in Las Vegas this morning, and before I knew it, @blacksilver.barz and I were pulling up to @area15official to catch @bluherfavcolor and @djexile . This was a dope way to finish out my birthday trip. Hip hop was definitely in the building.

I’ve never photographed a lunar eclipse. I found that using my telescope provided some specific challenges I hadn’t considered. I’m not thrilled with the overall quality compared to my other moon photos, but this was an excellent learning experience for me, and the photo is still pretty cool.

It’s a little early in the year for Milky Way photography, and the moon was just a little too close this morning. The window to catch the milkyway is currently between about 530-630 AM. As the sun rises earlier into spring and summer, the window for photographs moves earlier each day. So if you see me posting photos/timelapses at 4AM this spring/summer, I’ve been up working! By October you can catch the Milky Way after sunset instead of the middle of the night. My vantage point on the mountain here blocks the early rise at the horizon. But you can catch it peeking out briefly from behind the mountain at about 6 seconds. At least the stars and passing clouds look pretty cool. New moon is the best time to make photos of the Milky Way, I’ll be doing some expeditions for shoots that will be pretty great this year. Watch out!

This evening’s moon. Viewing conditions were perfect. Made this photo with my Canon R5, and Meade 125ETX telescope. I might zoom in a little further tomorrow. My magnifier gear is still packed away.

This caught me by surprise this morning. Leila was staring intently at SOMETHING through the fence. I come around the corner to meet almost a dozen of my new neighbors. Leila also met her first Javelina a couple days ago, I didn’t have my phone on me for that encounter. I’ve been through a really rough few weeks, thank you to any and everyone who checked in on me. I’m not ‘out if the woods’ yet… however, I now live immersed in pine trees listening to the wind on their branches, birds, and other wildlife. I see more stars than i can remember ever seeing in my life (and im a night-sky photographer). Experiences like this are what life is really about. Being in the moment, loving, being loved, being curious and open, friendly and considerate. I’m new to their world, these deer didn’t act skittish, or anything. These guys will probably cause garden trouble this spring. I’m sure you’ll see some wildlife photography from me in the near future.

Some great finds on a memory card today. In my camera, still on the cards were: 1 - My oldest son’s engagement to his fiancé at Hurricane Falls in Georgia.. 2 - Milkyway, Aurora, Moon, and that Comet that happened a year or so ago. 3 - One of my favorite sunset photos. Ever. 4 - A number of landscape and nature photos from various hikes around Arizona. I was so happy to realize I still had all these photos, especially the engagement ones. It’s only about 1200 photos of the many that I lost maybe 0.5% of all of them but there’s some special ones in there! I’ll post some after they’re processed.
