my Appa was a proud Tamilian man who taught me so much about the struggles of our people while I was a child living with so much privilege here on Gadigal land. it was beautiful to carry on his legacy of storytelling and my own of activism through artistry with this piece. most importantly I wanted to honour the bravery of the women who fought, the est over 150,000 Tamil lives lost to genocide and many more innocent lives affected. to all the peoples facing or who have faced genocide in the world - I stand u, with our indigenous peoples and with Palestinian 💚❤️

MEET SUHANIYA, WHO JOINS US AT SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE FOR TEMPLE OF DESIRE ✨
Suhaniya, also known as Spice Princess, is a queer multidisciplinary artist and yoga teacher exploring what it means to be a Tamil Sri Lankan woman living on unceded Gadigal land.
Trained in Bharatanatyam, her practice has expanded into liquid fusion bellydance, pole, fire dancing and dancehall, weaving diasporic and contemporary forms.
Rooted in her Hindu upbringing and ancestral wisdom, she shares yoga, sound and storytelling as pathways to connection and liberation.
Her sensual essence, embodied through dance, flows into her relationships with nature, music and community, all serving as portals to the divine within.
