As I enter my fourth school year of coaching, a lot of reflection was needed and was taken.
I conferred with mentors and prayed about it, and ultimately, I have come to the conclusion that I will no longer be coaching at New Town high school .
I am immensely grateful for the last four years that I was blessed to coach and give back to the school and the team that gave so much to me.
Thank you to my student athletes and managers (who I affectionately refer to as my kids), to my fellow coaches, and to my mentor and my coach, Jordan Davis for the opportunity.
The memories shared, the championships won, and the love that was conveyed will never be forgotten next line thank you to the parents who supported me and had my back.
This is not the end of Coach Mercer, but it is a new beginning.

23 years ago, God assigned me my greatest advocate, supporter, and motivator. My mama.
If you gave me a piece of paper, I can fill it with the mistakes she’s made. But there’s no amount of paper where I could list everything that she’s done for me.
The reason who I am today and who i am becoming.
I haven’t been the best son but she’s always been the best mom.
“Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell has always been our song and it’s always a reminder of how she’s always had my back, regardless of difficulty and distance.
Thank you ma for everything. I only hope that I can make you proud.
