Second race of the weekend, 1st overall and a new AG WORLD RECORD!🥇 @maleahlife and I officially met in the warmup zone on Saturday right before we both raced solo. The very next day we were back on the course but this time side by side. Not much strategy went into this one besides the fact that we knew that our biggest strength is running. And boy we went out HOT. Running 3.36 avg per km (5.41 min/mile). This was the most fun I’ve had in a race yet! Chasing @maleahlife down the straight aways, hearing the crowd and other athletes on the course cheering for us was electric. First of many races with my new friend and teammate! E15, we are coming for you :) #hyrox #hyroxamerica #worldrecord

Hyrox DC open doubles - how we split our race to break the AG world record! Safe to say our running is our biggest differentiator. Excited to see our growth in the stations as we continue to build for Worlds! #hyrox #hyroxworld #hybridathlete #worldrecord

Hyrox Washington D.C race #1 of 2! Took home 3rd place overall and a new open solo PR 1.00.23 This Hyrox season hasn’t exactly gone to plan, from falling short in Phoenix to getting bronchitis a few days before DC. I went into this one letting go of all the pressure I’ve built up on myself and decided to go out there with the mindset of nothing to lose. This race was the confidence boost I needed. But most importantly, I found the fun in racing again. Although those 23 seconds are definitely going to keep me up at night, I’m pretty damn proud of this effort. I am so back baby! Houston! I’m coming home, see you in 3 weeks 🤠 #hyrox #hybridathlete #hyroxathlete

Hyrox Phoenix race recap I’ve been waiting to share how this race went for a couple reasons. One, to gather my thoughts and process it all, and two, because it’s not always easy to share your “failures”. I am quick to post my life highlights and race wins, but I think it’s just as important to share when things don’t go my way. So here we are, let’s dive into. I put the word failure in quotes because although I failed to hit my goal time, this race was by no means a fail. It took me a couple days to realize that. The focus of my preparation was power and strength development. I am confident in my running ability and knew that the opportunity for improvement was in the stations. After months of training I felt extremely confident that I could execute my plan to hit sub 65. And I did execute that plan for the first half the of race. I hit big PRs on both the sled push and pull and it felt smoother than ever. Everything changed when I hit the burpees, the station I usually feel the most confident in. My gas was empty and from that point forward it was a battle to hang on. I also received two penalties which was extremely defeating. Mentally I checked out. I could feel the disappointment and frustration in my performance for the entire back half of the race, which is something I need to work on. As much as I wanted to quit, I finished the race and felt an overwhelming sense of defeat. I almost felt silly to be this upset over a something so trivial in the grand scheme of things. But to me, it does matter. I spend hours and hours a day training my ass off. I make constant sacrifices not because I have to but because I want to. I let myself be sad but then decided to put that energy into productivity. Yes, I am disappointed, but in no way, shape, or form am I discouraged. I WILL get that sub 65 pro solo. Now it’s time to get my endurance back. Same goals, more motivation than ever. See you in DC @hyroxamerica
