Gutter Carrion is a London based HNW artist and lover of all things feedback. If you have ever bared witness to a performance, the unnerving nature of the artist sat in a chair with the hanging piece of metal and the ability to create such sounds of horror. PinHead would invite Gutter Carrion to play his parties.

James Shearman
This hard-working noise being of Leytonstone, London, has recorded and performed amplified metal improvisations and compositions under his own name since 2023. The manâs tendrils do not ever take a holiday, it seems; consider the mosaic of crust and slime trails in various areas and crevices: mantric harsh noise and power electronics released under his surname only; Gutter Carrionâs feedback worshipping high-end wail and wall noise; the blackened noise of Roadside Dead; dronegaze by Echoes Throughout The Caverns of Leytonstone; the dungeon synth of JĂ„shlĂœkk; and collaborations aplenty (in the duo Milky Eyes, in a duo with Zheng Hao, in a trio with Oishi, and with Lydia Musonic as Brand New Flesh, among others).
james Shearman will perform on the 18th at One Church
A last reminder that this is coming up on saturday at Resistor!
An evening of noise, electroacoustic and tape manipulation with:
Gutter Carrion (United Kingdom)
Yellow Wasabi (China/France)
Informelle (France)
N.E.R.F. (Netherlands)
Doors: 21:00
Damage: âŹ8 (tickets available at the Resistor website)
A year later⊠and myself, Theo Nugraha and Vomir return to the HNW INTL material with fresh eyes for new walled noise re-envisioning - originally released to microcassette by Nazlo Records - HNW INTL RMX sees each artist âremixâ the others. The album artwork is a âvisual remixâ of mine of an original artwork by Theo.
Hugely appreciate both artists for wanting to return to this and create these new versions with me, and have it hosted on the recently resurging HNW netlabel platform (the link for which, where you can stream this release, is in my bio âŁïž).

Charnel Ground presents: Gutter Carrion (UK), Yellow Wasabi (FR), Informelle (FR) & N.E.R.F.
From march onwards our show schedule will be a busy one! To kick things off we'll head back to Resistor in Leiden on the 7th of march with:
Gutter Carrion (UK):
James Shearman is a Noise Being. Born/based in London (UK) and responsible for various experimental recording aliases. Most recently, âGutter Carrionâ obsessively explores walls of sound with âonly feedback as sourceâ - only ever utilising vocal microphones, amplified resonant objects and no-input mixer forms of feedbacking in conjunction with audio fx - the project has slowly evolved to centre around the shifts and changes of feedback that are ânaturallyâ occurring in a space with as little âinterferenceâ from the performer as possible.
Yellow Wasabi (FR):
Yellow Wasabi, evolutionary biologist and new media artist in Paris. She combines sciences and arts to investigate the human position in the digital industry and ecological landscape. She uses computer programs and biological modules to innovate and with the Guzheng, traditional Chinese harp; she shapes sound through AI motion capture and interactive projections.
Informelle (FR):
Informelle is a study of harsh sound â its organicity, interaction with the environment, structure, or lack thereof â and amplified found objects â metal, bubblewap, chestnuts, water. The project builds upon a set of interests and obsessions : contact microphones, fuzz effects, saturated pop songs, the interaction between noise and non-noise sounds, concentrated harsh textures, crunch, larsen. Informelle has a reductionist approach to harsh noise, minimising equipment to bring forward the sound sources.
N.E.R.F.:
N.E.R.F is a collaborative project of longtime comrades Peter Zincken and Johnny van de Koolwijk. They use vintage field recordings and intertwine them with fragments of improvised live recordings, analog synths, loops & vocals.
Doors: 21:00
Damage: âŹ8
