5. Brixton Kitchen
Saul performing at his Night in Heaven. By a stroke of heavenly magic angle numbers 555 appeared in the long exposure of the flash. These are from one of the triptych shows Saul has put on over the past few years. The first of which my friends and I hosted in our sublet in Brixton. Doing an unlicensed event and having 100 of South London’s freakiest in your kitchen isn’t as fun as it sounds. Yet Elliot, Finn and I managed to pay the rent that month flogging cans of red stripe 2 for a fiver. It was a good job too because we were all completely skint. I wish I had got some photos from that evening, and from the night in limbo, which I couldn’t attend. As is ever when something interesting is happening, I’m often stuck behind the bar. Video Life xx
An Afternoon with @jessiejanecollins
Dancing her way through pregnancy, we watch dancer and musician, Jessie Collins, 8 months pregnant, move through a series of tap and contemporary. We also listen to Jessie share her experience of moving whilst carrying and growing, and her hopes for the next generation.
- ‘An Afternoon With’ is a collaboration between an artist (Cec) and a filmmaker (Sam), based in London, we make short documentary’s about the people we encounter.
An Afternoon with Bob Parks
We visit Bob Parks, an energetic and eccentric multi-media artist, who was pivotal in the LA performance art scene in the 70’s, now living in a small village neighbouring the New Forest. We record as we eat lunch, make a sculpture out of Bobs broken bench, look around his house, talk about his R&B philosophy and go on a long and slightly frantic walk around the forest.
Behold Bob!
