Descending: Rejected, Then Painted responds to Fountain and Nude Descending a Staircase No. 2 by Marcel Duchamp, focusing on rejection as a force that shapes artistic meaning. Once refused by institutions, these works revealed the limits of acceptance. This painting returns to the act of making, where labour and repetition transform what was dismissed. The image descends between form and erasure, holding tension between presence and absence.
