After reading a lot about it, I’ve realised it’s not just about the music - there’s a lot more going on: 1 - there’s the bass, which you can feel in your body. These low frequencies travel through us and help release built-up tension & pain. 2 - there’s the drums/ repetitive rhythm - creating a sense of stability and safety that shifts your whole state. 3 - then there’s the dancing - one of the most natural ways to release and let go. 4 - and the people. It feels so good to be with so many that just get it, and get you. But there’s something much deeper too that I discovered recently. In ancient cultures, people would gather to step out of every day life and enter a shared space of connection, dancing and rhythm. A sort of threshold. You cross it, reset, release and come back slightly different. Raves may be the modern version of that. I’ve left feeling like a different person every time and never fully knew why. Tell me - have you felt this too? Or is it something else for you? (And yes I’m waiting for some of you to say booze, drugs, or the dopamine rush 😝 but even without that, there’s still something in it 😌) Ps wherever you are this weekend, I hope you get a moment to really let loose, let go and enjoy it 💃

Most things that move life forward start with someone brave enough to be different. This weekend at XOYO - Keeno ft. Vibre Strings reminded me of that. It was so inspiring to witness Will bring his own music to life with live piano (played by him), a string quartet, and orchestral drum and bass inside one of the most iconic clubs in the scene. Something bold, beautiful, and completely its own. Yes we’ve seen incredible live drum and bass projects before - like what Fabio & Grooverider have done with the Outlook Orchestra - but this felt different. What inspired me most wasn’t how amazing it sounded but seeing someone trust a vision that felt true to them, bring it to life, and watching people really embrace it. 11 years ago, when I brought together my DJing and singing into one set, that wasn’t really the done thing. But I loved DJing AND singing, and I wanted to create my own sets - not just sing one song. It wasn’t always easy, because it was early, but I trusted it. And now it’s one of the things that people love most about my shows, and it’s also opened up a path way for others to do it. I wasn’t trying to create that by the way, I was just following what I felt was right for me. But that often gives others permission to try something new too. And I think that’s the point. Nothing new is created by everyone thinking and doing the same. So if this resonates, I hope it inspires you to be brave enough to keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in your life. It doesn’t just have to be music, it can be anything. And if you’d like to share what you’re building, creating, or doing differently, or tell me about someone who inspires you - I’d genuinely love to know. Ps. Get tickets for Keeno’s next show when it goes on sale! You won’t regret it! #drumandbass #dnb #riyalive #bebrave

Looking back at SUNANDBASS 2025, where the lovely Riya & Collette Warren performed a special history set at Bal Harbour, featuring some of their favourite tracks, from early solo releases to their collaborative album, and everything in between from the Carnelian Music journey. San Teodoro holds a special place in their story, from first meeting there, to building a deep connection through friendship and music, to sharing the stage many times over the years. Seeing them return to perform this set of classics we all know and love felt truly special ❤️ 📹 @kkesli_

A lot of these are from the era I fell in love with D&B and was buying records - and there’s always one or two I still drop in my sets. There’s already more I wish I could have added, and I just know after watching you’re going to be itching to tell me what else should be on the list - so please do! 😝 PSA: my album launch party flyer went live last night and it’s FREE before midnight. Limited capacity though, and tickets are already flying - so if you’re coming, don’t leave it too long! (And yes there will be one or two classics in that set too 😉)

For me, drum and bass was the first place I truly felt I belonged. The energy lifted me when I felt flat, it gave me focus when my mind was racing, release when life felt heavy, and joy when I needed it most. I’ve also often wondered whether the fast tempo, momentum, and emotional intensity of it is part of why it resonates so deeply with those of us who’ve experienced anxiety, low mood, ADHD traits or just that feeling of never quite fitting in elsewhere. Maybe that’s why so many of us feel so connected to this scene. A beautiful bunch of misfits united by the same sound 😌 Tell me - what drew you to D&B in the first place, and does it feel like home to you?

Deep down we all know when something isn’t working for us anymore. Sometimes it’s nobody’s fault- we’re simply no longer compatible with the things, places, patterns or even people that once felt right. And while we can’t change others, we can be brave enough to change ourselves and honour what we know deep down. If this post resonates with you, I hope this song and these words inspire you to take one small brave step today - and as many days as it takes - towards a happier future, job, home, relationship, or whatever it is you need right now. I’ve been there on the regular over the past ten years and it’s been tough as hell but I’ve found beauty on the other side. You’re not alone in what you’re feeling. And if this speaks to where you are right now, drop a comment. Sometimes seeing how many of us are moving through the same things reminds us of just how connected we really are. #drumandbass #dnb #planetv #trustyourintuition
