Wow, what a way to wrap up the season.
Iāve been hesitant to post photos of these fish, but now that everything is wrapped up for the year, I think the world deserves to see just how incredible our Cairns black marlin fishery truly is.
To put things in perspective ā I was lucky enough to weigh a grander back in 2008, and again in 2010 as a young crewman. A lot of hard work (and many, many releases) has happened in the years since.
This season, I was fortunate enough to weigh not only my first grander as a captain ā 1223 lbs ā but also my second, 1021 lbs, on the very last day of the season.
Accomplishments like this donāt come easy. The effort my crew put in all year was unreal, and being rewarded with such incredible fish is something Iāll never forget.
