MONT BLANC (4.810m) via Cosmiques Route
Every adventure starts with the first step! After nearly two years of planning, we reached the summit of the highest mountain in the Alps at 7:45 a.m. on August 23rd.
Climbing in the dark with the full moon lighting our path for more than four hours, watching the sunrise on the face of Mont Blanc, and enjoying the summit view with a great team—it was a morning to remember.
I can’t deny that ascending and descending via the Cosmiques Route was the most challenging climb I’ve done so far.
Starting from the Refuge des Cosmiques, the route leads through the north-western face of Mont Blanc du Tacul, where the biggest fear aren’t the steep climbing passages or the crevasses but the overhanging seracs. Knowing that two people, who had died in a serac collapse two weeks ago, were still buried in the snow, didn’t make me feel comfortable about crossing this face twice. When a part of the team got involved in a rescue mission on Tuesday, where two more people died on this mountain, I started questioning if I really wanted to climb up this way.
Finally decided to give it a try on Thursday after looking at Mont Blanc du Tacul for two days and with zero sleep we started our tour on Friday morning.
After reaching the saddle of Mont Blanc du Tacul, Mont Maudit loomed like a giant—a massive face with over 50° steepness and a crevasse in between, requiring a few meters of vertical ice climbing. Since we climbed mostly in the dark, it wasn’t until an hour after leaving the summit that I looked down the Maudit face in daylight and realized just how steep this 50° face really is. But honestly, this felt safer than risking our lives crossing the Grand Couloir on the normal route, where ongoing rockfall is an even less controllable risk.

Die Ski sind in den Keller gewandert und das Rennrad von der Rolle.
Immer wieder toll, wie schnell man unterwegs sein kann und wie groß der Radius wird. ☺️

🎿 Skihochtour auf der Grenze zwischen Österreich und Südtirol in den Ötztaler Alpen. Der dritthöchste Gipfel Österreichs hat Einiges zu bieten: Einen langen Gletscher, luftige Gratkraxelei und eine unglaublich schöne Aussicht in alle Richtungen.
Die Tour lässt sich von vielen Seiten aus starten, wir sind auf dieser Skitour in Kurzras gestartet.
⚠️Achtung! Gletscherkenntnisse, Skitouren-/Lawinenausrüstung und Gletscherausrüstung sind erforderlich.

Der Aufstieg über das Teufelsegg ist genauso lang. Retour sind 200 hm Gegenanstieg einzurechnen.

Season closing 🎿
Weißkugel 📍3.738 m
Anlauf Nr. 2 war die perfekte Skitour zum Saisonabschluss.
Traumwetter, perfekte Verhältnisse und eine Aussicht zum Niederknien. Bissl Gratkraxeln war auch noch dabei.
Nachdem wir letztes Jahr zu Fuß abbrechen mussten, war’s am Gipfelkreuz umso schöner.
Rechnung beglichen ✅ und ein kleiner Reminder, dass Umdrehen keine Schande ist. Die Berge laufen schließlich nicht davon. ☺️

Der Frühling fühlt sich schon fast an wie Sommer, aber wir packen doch nochmal eine Skihochtour an. 😉
Vielleicht hab ich zu lange die Bilder von vor zwei Wochen angeschaut, denn die Aussicht macht jedes Mal Lust auf mehr. ☺️🎿
