I put it daily over moisturiser and under any makeup. For the baby: So far my favourite is the @cancercouncil kids SPF50+ sunscreen. But I’ll try more products as it’s her first time ever wearing sunscreen. 🧚🏻Playing a live show this Friday @localedition.au in Sydney! I’ve been enjoying some late-night studio time when my baby goes to zzz, setting up a little desk in the storage room because the house is always busy. Having this small pocket of me time to create again has felt really special. Rachel’s music focusses on nature’s glitches and sound narratives. And Khaled’s music focusses on muhawalāt [attempts, variations] and hawāmesh [sonic footnotes]. They will be supported by Sydney’s J.WLSN and JWPATON who both share a love of sonic mangling and smudged atmospheres.

𝘈 𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘵 𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘮𝘺 𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘺* 🌱These moments of creative burst, aligned with a little free time and energy, are rare for me right now, so I took the opportunity to capture one on a sunny afternoon in the garden. Just me, my tripod, my video camera, my Sol. I captured something spontaneous that I later edited on my laptop, then composed a track in Ableton using software and the audio recorded while filming those ceramic bells. The project brought together multiple parts of my practice… sound design, video filming, video editing, and storytelling. One piece naturally unfolded into another, and a single afternoon became the starting point for a bunch of new tracks, as well as long-form video pieces I’m archiving for visuals for my live shows. 🌻Life lately… maternity leave in the summer with my little Sol flower, who’s already 7 weeks old, and spending most of it soaking in this new little family of mine❤️. We’ve been busy with some home improvements and tackling the garden, which had turned into a bit of a jungle after being left to grow wild for years. Sending love to everyone Rx 🍼🔆🙃🦋

Sol Storia 🔆 Home, finally. After a big, emotional week in the hospital with my little Sol, we’re back in our own space, soaking each other in. I’m in love, completely, overwhelmingly. We’re taking it slow… healing, wrapped up in cuddles, milk, and the kind of love that makes sleep feel secondary. Sol means sun in Latin, Spanish, Portuguese, and Catalan. Other meanings are in Music, its the fifth note in the solfège scale (do-re-mi-fa-sol). In Roman Mythology Sol means Sun God. In Norse Mythology Sol means Sun Goddess. Storia is her middle name, which means Story and Tale in Italian and is a tribute to my love and connection having spent so much time in Italy. My life Storia…

𝙒𝙝𝙞𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙚𝙚𝙙 is a sound installation developed during my time on the 𝘌𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘥𝘥𝘦𝘥 residency at the @artgalleryofnsw in January. I’m grateful that the work is now installed and playing on loop as part of the Making Worlds exhibition—situated among the very artworks that informed and inspired this sound production. ˚ · • . ° . In 𝙒𝙝𝙞𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙍𝙚𝙚𝙙, multidisciplinary artist and sound designer Rachel Lyn explores growth and the stretching of time through sound. Spread throughout the gallery space in Making Worlds, ASMR-glitched vocal textures mingle with drip-like sonic references—echoing the scent and sensory presence of Ernesto Neto’s 𝘑𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘥𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦, 𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 (2002), and resonating with the structured chaos of Lindy Lee’s 𝘊𝘰𝘴𝘮𝘰𝘴 – 𝘢 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘦 (2014). The stereo field explored across the expanse of the room plays on dualities – two sides in sound. Tiny moments trill and chirp, while other sounds spread like circular forms, moving around the sculptural forms on display, which are arranged like constellations. Organic and subtle, this music was composed and recorded at the Art Gallery as part of the music residency series 𝘌𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘥𝘥𝘦𝘥.
