If you weren’t in Italy this summer… what did you even do? 🇮🇹✨ This summer, I had the honor of traveling to Sicily—not just to explore, but to perform. Theater took me across the world, and Sicily gave me a second home. From the breathtaking views, to the linen fashions, to the warmth of the people of Pezzelo, to all the laughs, and gelato! My heart is so full. Grazie, Sicily, I’ll never forget you! Don’t worry I won’t be away for too long — I owe nonna Lena and a few others a coffee date ☕️😉

JANAE THOMPSON (she/her) - Actress 🇬🇧Janae is a theatrical performer and filmmaker from Hampton Roads, Virginia. Recent performance credits include As You Like It (The Z), Fat Ham (VSC/Firehouse Theater), Imagine (REACH at Kennedy Center), Rathskeller (The Z), The Little Mermaid (VMT), Refraction of Light (The Z) and the Inheritance Theatre Project’s Emmy Award-winning Exodus: Homecoming. In the theatrical community, she serves as Communications Coordinator for ROŪGE: Theater Reinvented, collaborator of UPAC, and Repertory Member for the Canady Foundation for theArts. In 2022 Janae was selected as a New Orleans Film Society Producers Lab Fellow and currently serves on the Advisory Council for Gen MOCA (Virginia Museum of Contemporary Arts) and WHRO’s Emerging Leaders Board. It has always been a dream of mine to perform at Virginia Stage Company! I’ve occupied VSC what feels like my entire life, from seeing schools shows as a kid, attending pay-what-you-can performances with my mom, secretly sneaking into the space during Governor School 👀🤫, to being an extra in Radio Golf! VSC always felt like home. Although I’ve worked with VSC in other capacities, having the opportunity to finally perform on the main stage for Fat Ham, a story of Black joy, accountability, family, and maybe a little 🤏🏾Shakespeare with an ALL BLACK CAST, if you know me, then you know my little heart is full!
