Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who came to my artist talk tonight!! I honestly felt so held by the room. Seeing familiar faces, hearing your reactions and feeling your presence made me forget how nervous I was. I’m still overwhelmed in the best way. A huge thank you to @pinoypotluckatx , @forthspaceproductions and @dorf_world for organizing this event and creating a space where community, art and culture can come together so naturally. You made everything feel warm, welcoming and so beautifully Filipino. To everyone who brought food for the potluck, salamat!!! The smell of Filipino dishes in the gallery felt like being wrapped in a hug from home. And a very personal thank you to @saravanderbeek , @lilmanchie , @aristocraft and the entire community who showed up. Your presence, your energy and your love made me feel seen and supported in the deepest way. Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat. My heart is so full!!! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

✨ Huge thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate the opening of Infernal Rebirth into Hell by Intel Lastierre — the culmination of her year-long DORF Fellowship in Professional Practice (FiPP). We’re so grateful for the incredible energy, thoughtful conversations, and support that filled the space on opening night. Intel’s work invites us to bear witness the lived experiences of Filipino immigrants, revealing how promises of opportunity, safety, and freedom often give way to struggles shaped by exclusion, surveillance, exploitation, and systemic inequality. It was powerful to experience it together. If you missed the opening, the exhibition is on view through January 31, 2026 at DORF, Zilker Point. Come see it in person! We are open Saturdays 12-5 pm💥 Curated by Sara Vanderbeek with inaugural DORF Curatorial Fellow Regine Malibiran. 📸 @heyjinnij #InfernalRebirthIntoHell #IntelLastierre #DORFAustin #FiPPFellowship #AustinArt #FilipinoArtists @intellastierre.art @aristocraft @saravanderbeek

Find the people who believe in you. And when they offer encouragement + advice, gratefully drink it down with three extra cups of curiosity. I almost didn’t submit to Look Mama We Made It. That old story played in my head again: that my work didn’t belong on gallery walls, that it was only meant for magazines, websites, and ads. At the time, I was reshaping who I wanted to attract as clients, reframing my mindset, and still shaking off the after-effects of living in fight-or-flight (more on that later). That’s when @dbunns stepped in. His encouragement helped me see what I’d been too hard on myself to recognize. The piece I submitted came from a client shoot product launch. They didn’t end up using this one, so it sat in my archive collecting dust. At the show, people asked if it was a painting, which made me blush. That felt like the highest compliment, especially for someone who once memorized the names and stories of photographers who kicked their tripods to make photos look like brushstrokes. My work became something new because I let someone I trust open a different door for me. I’m grateful for that. Asking for help isn’t a weakness. It’s strength. It lifts you, connects you, and pulls you out of that echoey room in your mind where the same old story loops with no answer. So: lean on your people. Let (and pay!) other artists help you see your work differently. Surround yourself with creatives who inspire your next project and who also want to share their work with the world. And if you’re ready to reimagine yourself or your brand through artful, editorial photography ~lifestyle~fashion~product~ I’d love to be that collaborator ❤️ #austineditorialphotographer #austineditorialphotography #JoiContiPhotography #joiconti #austinphotographer #austinphotography #austincreativedirection #creativedirection #EditorialPhotography #ColorfulStorytelling #JoiContiStoryTime • • • Credit • • • Special thanks @AsianSeasonATX , @BolmArts , and @Beerburgevents for this wonderful, heartfelt gallery + market

📌 TOMORROW! is the opening reception for LIVING HERE @unlvmuseum . I’m so thrilled for my work to be included here alongside a roster of incredible artists. Please come say hi tomorrow from 5-8PM if you’re in the Las Vegas area! ————— The Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art is proud to present Living Here, an exhibition of artists from the East and Southeast Asian diasporas. Featuring artists whose ancestries lie in Cambodia, China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, and the Philippines, Living Here looks at the way that our familiar touchstones—such as food, clothing, and movies—permeate diasporic movement with the sensuous materiality of touch, taste, sight, and sound.  The artists are inspired by personal experiences informed by historical events that have shaped their diasporic identities. Some of them call on their memories of home, remembering favorite activities such as karaoke, reassessing their childhood relationships with their parents from a position of adult maturity, or contemplating the future that awaits their own children. Others employ historical research, considering the incarceration of Japanese Americans during World War II, or the Filipino Rough Riders who traveled with Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show in the late 1800s. The links between past, present, and future are manifested in everyday objects like balikbayan boxes, or in the frustration of English-language autocorrect technology replacing a person’s name with an anglicized alternative. Artists: Eliza O. Barrios Ching Ching Cheng Daieny Chin Jisoo Chung Emmanuel David and Yumi Janairo Roth Maya Fuji Sush Machida Gaikotsu Jeannie Hua Hue Phung Huynh Jeanne F. Jalandoni eri king Maryrose Cobarrubias Mendoza Quindo Miller Jiha Moon May Nguyen Ian Racoma Michael Rippens Jennifer Seo Stephanie Shih (史欣雲) Stephanie H. Shih TT Takemoto Sherwin Rivera Tibayan Maria Villote Christine Wong Yap [One of my works is also accompanied by work by @lapmakesthings ] With oral histories from Reflections: The Las Vegas Asian American and Pacific Islander Oral History Project. You’re all invited to stop by the Museum for our exhibition reception this Friday evening (Sept. 5, 5-8 p.m.). Come and help us celebrate the artists of Living Here, Perception, and Floreo.  While you're here, you might as well check out two other receptions happening on campus at the same time. The Donna Beam will be opening Provocations (a group exhibition of contemporary sculpture) and Savannah Jackson's solo show, Baggage Claim Liquor Store, will hold its closing exhibition in Grant Hall.  We can't forget that Floreo artist Brian Martinez (@martinez_brian_ ) will have another reception for his solo exhibition at Nuwu (@nuwuart ) on the evening of September 6. Don’t miss it. Image Installation view of Living Here, featuring artwork by (L-R) Phung Huynh, Sherwin Rivera Tibayan, Stephanie Shih (史欣雲), and eri king.
