____ Hiền Hoàng Đồng Ký Ức - Field of Memory AEQUUSOL MMXXV ἀήρ The elusive essence of the element “ἀήρ” is further revealed in a new chapter of AEQUUSOL defined by the artist Hiền Hoàng with her work Đồng Ký Ức - Field of Memory. The project emerges from a study on the relationship between the soil of the vineyards surrounding Loreto Aprutino and atmospheric factors, in a context where centuries of human activity have shaped the resilience and patterns of life within the land. The artist intertwines oral stories with sounds, as well as bioelectrical and atmospheric data recorded through self-developed software and devices, questioning whether is possible to develop a heterogeneous form of memory that integrates scientific data with human experience in nature. Mythology, as a communal act, is intended as a way to preserve the memory that persists in the entangled spaces between air, clouds, wind, soil, rain. And in the modern data that become part of the present narration. Hiền Hoàng is a Vietnamese-German interdisciplinary artist working at the intersection of art, ecology, and material research. She works with corroded metals, mycelium, soil, archival photographs, and sensor-based systems to investigate how matter records violence, care, and memory and how trauma is stored in both living and non-living bodies. By combining scientific instruments with intimate observation, Hoàng develops methods that reveal forms of witnessing through material transformations and the transmission of energy. Full appreciation and thankfulness to @custodes.laureti , @gabrielevineyard and Professor Piero Di Carlo for their generous participation and support. Ph. @andrea.straccini

___ Nicola Baratto Favola della torre AEQUUSOL MMXXV ἀήρ Nicola Baratto continues to unfold the narrative of AEQUUSOL MMXXV, with a project inspired by the numerous explorations that the artist performed in the land of Abruzzo, and from the passion he has long cultivated for archaeology applied to dreams. After visiting several local towers, sediments of ancient structures with a predominantly defensive character, and from episodes of vertigo he himself experienced while visiting these outposts, Nicola has shaped out an idea for a fable in a liminal object - a folding screen - that “coagulates a cosmogony between the literary, the sculptural, and the cinematic.” In a research inspired also by the work of Leonardo Sciascia, the study of the tower becomes the protagonist of a story in which the artist celebrates the element of air in its deepest qualities and meanings: “Favola della torre” is at once a multifaceted narrative - at times demystifying - and a sculptural and spatial device that defines a border zone between the real and the imaginary, the historical and the mythological, wind and silence. Nicola Baratto (Italy, 1989) works with film, sculpture, and installation. His practice develops through research into dream processes and historical imagination. He is half of the artist duo Baratto & Mouravas, whose method Archeoodreaming explores the overlaps between sensory archaeology and myth-making. Recent exhibitions include: LE18 (2025), Una Boccata d’Arte (2024), and Elefsina European Capital of Culture (2023). Nicola is an alumnus of the Dirty Art Department - Sandberg Instituut and of Le Fresnoy - Studio National des Arts Contemporain. Much gratitude to @arcolaio_tessile_italiano for their support during the production of the artwork. Ph. @andrea.straccini

___ Aurelio Di Virgilio Lynx lynx AEQUUSOL MMXXV ἀήρ ἀήρ (air) is the central theme of AEQUUSOL MMXXV. It is the impalpable lifeblood of the animal realm and an otherworldly dimension, existential vapor and the dwelling place of souls. From Abruzzo to the world and back, the artists of Aequusol 2025 compose a syntax drawn from the elements of breath, bodily movements, and the faint emanations of the spirit. Aurelio Di Virgilio is the first interpreter with his project Lynx lynx, born during a convivial lunch with the artist. Specifically, from Aurelio’s stories about one of his most recent residencies at TasDance in Tasmania, where he began researching animals—mostly felines—either mythological or endangered. The fascination the artist feels for these creatures, sometimes fantastical, leads him in Abruzzo to the discovery of the much-discussed, mysterious, grotesque image of the Apennine Lynx, or, as the local population calls it, the Gatto Cervone. Aurelio Di Virgilio’s performance Lynx lynx takes shape—on the border between the visible and the invisible—giving the audience the chance to witness a moment of rare authenticity: the rediscovery of wonder. Aurelio Di Virgilio is a young artist from Abruzzo whose practice absorbs gestures and reconstitutes them on the stage—often anunconventional one—of dance and performance through repetition, a polyphonic narration, elements of varied nature, and different languages, above all poetry. Di Virgilio’s work has been presented in various institutional and non-institutional venues, including TasDance in Tasmania (2024), One Gee in Fog in Geneva (2025), Fabbrica Europa Festival in Florence (2024), MAXXI L’Aquila (2023), Operaestate Festival in Bassano del Grappa (2023), Il Mattatoio (2021–2022) and Fondazione Smart (2022) in Rome, Nuovo Teatro delle Commedie in Livorno (2022), and Sala Santa Rita for Palaexpo in Rome (2021).
