After almost a decade of O MATO, a chapter is coming to a close and its time to say thank you and good bye.
Starting next year, we will retire from organizing events. O MATO as a music collective will continue to live on, but our time as event hosts is coming to an end.
It has been an unforgettable journey — one filled with sound, emotion, community, and countless timeless memories. But like every journey, this one, too, must evolve.
In this final year, we want to celebrate everything we’ve built together. “CIAO MATO” means both goodbye and hello — a farewell to what was, and a welcome to what’s to come. This bittersweet in-between, where something ends and something new begins, is what we want to celebrate with you.
We will return to the venues that have shaped our path. We’ll bring back the artists who’ve walked this road with us. And we hope to see all the beautiful people we’ve met along the way — those who danced with us, those who became friends, and those who became family.
A last proper gathering, with everything and everyone that makes O MATO what it is, might come next year.
For you. For us. And for the memories.
Wowowow, it took us a good moment to process our 10-year anniversary and farewell party at Hoppetosse. Thanks to everyone involved, it was truly wholesome and special to us.
As our time as event organizers has come to an end, we want to take a moment to say a grateful goodbye to our core team members Eneko, Julia, Flo, and Cyrill. We started as a crew of friends trying to fulfill a social utopia. Utopia has become reality, and reality has moved forward. Along the way more friends emerged, many of whom came to stay, and with them new ways of expressing ourselves. All of them define who we are and what we do, because really that’s what O MATO has always been about: bringing friends together and create lasting memories through music.
Therefore O MATO as a music collective will live on and participate in (dj) showcases, takeovers, listening sessions, co-curation and other forms of collaborations outside of Berlin. We will also work on some intimate and cross-cultural concepts, too. Feel free to reach out with any kind of thoughts or ideas.
💚
Our downstairs floor will be the visual playground for @kaltwassertv , a Berlin-based multimedia artist working with analog video synthesis, creating reactive visuals shaped live by voltage and feedback chains. You’ll find various form of screens around the room.

We’re welcoming two special guests for the anniversary this weekend @hoppetosse.berlin !
One of them is @lamalice_awgee , a versatile DJ based in paris whom we share very fond memorys with.
The other one stays unnamed.
A distant memory of a boat party might help.
For our anniversary and farewell, we’re putting out a special dubplate with two unreleased cuts from the O MATO stable.

10 years
Available to whoever finds us first at our Ciao Mato party at Hoppetosse this weekend. When it’s gone, it’s gone!

Tomorrow it’s game day. A couple of things to note for our cute Christmas house party @anima.berlin :
Free entry
Just bring yourself and good energy.
Limited capacity
The space is very intimate, which is our favourite setting of all. So come early to get in.
Dinner service until 22:00
If you fancy having dinner at Anima’s amazing restaurant, book a table with them in advance. Dinner will be served until 22:00, which will be soundtracked as well.
At 22:00
The tables and chairs will be cleared from the restaurant floor, and we will turn it into a cozy dance floor.
Music until 3
Music will be running from around 20:00 until 3:00. The journey will be carefully selected and prepared by some of our residents.
Caipis
Next to Anima’s delightful drink menu, there will be caipirinhas especially for this occasion, in true old-school O MATO fashion.
House party at @anima.berlin ! A few times a year the tables disappear, lights dim down and the restaurant transforms into an intimate dance floor. So we are more than grateful to be hosting one of these special nights.
Anima Berlin treats every aspect with absolute dedication. If you think you know your records, you haven’t heard them on a custom Japanese horn system (designed and assembled by @h.a.n.d.hifi ), sent through a @resorelectronics rotary mixer. A perfect match for an overly good restaurant.
If you haven’t had the chance to visit Anima Berlin so far, December 6th will be a rare catch to do so. We will be waiting for you! Entry is free, capacity is limited – come early, music until 03:00
