Barcelona Half - 69:24 (3:17km), 201st* / 36,000 & the Half Marathon PB streak lives on (5/5)🇪🇸🐂🦇🖤🩶🥷 To shine in-front of everybody you gotta do the work in-front on nobody (hahah mate I’m cringing but man it’s so true) 💎🤷‍♂️ Feel like this was a well deserved one today after 8 relentless weeks of training post my Valencia deload. Here’s to the next 8 huge weeks before my dream race… London I’m coming dawg 🇬🇧 Just over 12 months of going all in on the running game and I’ve still got that mad desire to keep pushing myself to get better and better every single day. Super excited to get back on the prom, on the track, on the wattbike, in the heat suit and back shaving those precious seconds off. Next ‘A Goal’ half marathon for me will be the Big Half in September as a milestone in my build into Chicago marathon, got 6 months of graft to try and slice 2 minutes 25 seconds out of today’s time for a sub 67. Hope everyone has a belter who’s raced today, well deserved. POWER OF 5K - 15:03 (3:01/km) 3/3 5K PB streak & 4th place ❤️‍🔥🏁⏱️🚀 Very happy with shape for the 23rd Jan, huge year ahead for me in the old running game, gonna keep hammering and see where the PB mine starts running dry. Like my 7/7 marathon PB streak the 5K PB streak lives to fight another day 3/3 and another 40 seconds nocked off tonight. Honestly a bit gutted because I know sub 15 is in there after today’s run, but unfortunately I didn’t think I had it pre race which is ultimately what’s cost me. Jumped on the track for 5x 1k threshold effort post race - nice and smooth, making the most of the hard days. 3 weeks till Barca half 🇪🇸 13 weeks till London Marathon 🇬🇧 Back to work with an Almgren inspired half marathon session on Sunday. Valencia Marathon 2:30:44 (3:34/km) & 541st / 35,000! The Marathon PB streak continues (7/7)✅🏁🇪🇸🦇⏰🏆🏅 We don’t rise to the occasion we fall to the level of our commitment. 20 months ago, 200 miles up this eastern Spanish coastline I flogged myself round the streets of Barcelona, running my first marathon in 3:32:14 (5:01/km). I’ve since become obsessed with the pursuit of improving over the sacred 26.2 mile dance & I’ve managed to sink over 1000 hours into training since the debut back in March 2024 (very aware I need some hobbies that don’t involve battering concrete asap). Running newbie gains got me shaving 62 minutes of my marathon in 20 months lol. If the marathon gods offered me another 6 minutes off today’s performance for Chicago 2026 in trade for another 1000 hours I’d snatch their hand off right now, however somethings telling me it’s gonna start getting pretty god damn hard to keep swiping big chunks out of my time every race… but we’re still gonna give it a right good swing. Although PB’s, race times and kudos is cool the glitter will have well and truly faded by Tuesday and by midweek I’ll be back in the groove with some light training & be plotting the spring 2026 build. The joy, excitement and growth really does lie within the mundane day to day ticking of boxes and I already can’t wait to get back into the swing of it. That being said the line between discipline and disorder has been mighty fine at times this year so I’m going to prioritise wellbeing and relaxation over the mini goals I have set for this 35 day ‘off season’ period. Time for a reset before the spring build starting 12th January. Me after a 40 minute run yesterday and 50 minute run today. Felt like a duck out of water but it’s fair to say the concrete has been bloody missed.🦆😎👍 Running to feel a million bucks baby, exercising for endorphins. Decent init when you’ve not got miles to bank and splits to miss & your just out there for the love of the game. A reel about perspective… not running✌️ A bad patch doesn’t reframe the last 18 months of your journey. For me the last 8 weeks or so have been very mid but when I take a holistic view of when the journey started in January 2025 to today this helps me reframe this period as an inevitable bump in the road and not a car crash! If you’re in a slump, feeling below par or going through a difficult time, have a step back and take a holistic view of where you are now in your journey compared to January 2025! Whether it’s a start up business, relationships, finances… or it could simply be running. Just remember you need the bad days to enjoy the good ones. #runner #marathonblues #running

April recap 😎🇬🇧🎢🎬🍦💚 As a whole a bloody top month with a bit of turbulence upon landing, never stops a right old good time though does it. ❤️‍🔥top month doing what I luuuuuuv 🎡experienced London on marathon day 👠few new pairs of kickers to get me feet into 🐟 food food food ✈️ first of many trips down south in the coming weeks 🧂@drinkoosh blackpool salt shaker 👱‍♂️ it’s me Can’t wait to be that old geezer sat in a boozer in 2070 giving it I was there when the first 2 hour marathon was broken when the world records 79 high, 4000mm stack height webs, 300g of carbs an hour and half the Amazon rainforest 3 hours before the gun👍 Super excited for the next two months man big life change pending, let’s hope you southerners can understand my monotone Lancashire accent!😎 #runner #running #marathonrunner

When & how to return to structured training post marathon 🤷‍♂️ Fair to say this is super individualised for everyone depending on training history, how battered you are after the marathon (pacing disasterclass usually longer recovery), motivation levels etc. Here’s the 5 point checklist I’m working towards before returning to jogging & structured training. 1) I’m not in pain walking. Pretty straight forward first checkpoint for me, don’t run if you still can’t walk down the stairs cocker. 2) I’m psychologically ready for structured training. Structured training is about ticking boxes day after day which can actually be pretty mentally taxing, I know if I jump into this cycle in the next couple of weeks I’ll be burnt out in no time so training over the next few weeks will be as I please until I’m ready. 3) Reflect on the last training cycle. I’ve been reflecting on what went well and what needs improving from this block of training which will act as a framework for the next cycle. This isn’t a 2 minute job and is one that naturally happens over those weeks post my A goal event. Although we missed at the A goal event I PB’d in 5k & half marathon within the build and put the best sessions of my life together so it’s a case of fine tuning & not rewriting. 4) Make sure I’m completely fulfilled before committing to another big block of training. The tug of war between family, training, work & social life can be tough. The social element has been a tad neglected as of late so it’s time to fill this cup before committing to a significant training build again. 5) Is there a ‘North Star’ goal and a burning desire to get it. The next A goal race is 6 months away but for now the body and mind needs time to reset whilst i wait for the inner hunger to return. These are just the progressive hurdles I need to get over post marathon before returning to jogging initially and then structured training later down the line. A systematic approach to stop me running myself into the ground… Mind that pun x x x #runner #running #marathon

AD - Summer training let’s be having you ☀️🕶️🍦 After what seems like a lifetime of slogging the miles out in the wind and rain I’m ready for some overdue British sun over the next few months. I’ll been using @solarsport SPF30 when temperatures reach the dizzy heights of 15 degrees in the next few weeks to stop my current milk bottle esque tone turning bright pink 👍 #runner #running
