Nina van de Ven creates a visual archive of myth, memory, and motion. Her work explores drawing, printmaking, and ceramics, transforming iconography from across human civilization into something new. Figures shift between human and animal, between historical symbols and contemporary gestures. Her ceramic reliefs resemble unearthed fragments, telling stories that feel both ancient and strikingly modern. ✏️Visual artist Nina van de Ven @_ninavandeven gave several workshops at the end of 2025 to participants of the daytime activities of De Sam @de.sam.biezenmortel @wijzijnprisma at Landpark Assisië in Biezenmortel, a residential facility for people with intellectual disabilities. During the first workshop, the group worked on cadavre exquis: a drawing game in which multiple people take turns contributing to a single drawing. This resulted in unexpected, often humorous and bizarre fantasy creatures. In the following workshops, individual fantasy creatures and elements from nature were drawn. Based on these results, Nina created two new works in which the participants’ drawings reappear on jackets through patches, buttons, pins, and embroidery.  Nina’s newest works will be presented during Festival Nabij, organised by @studio_assisie at Landpark Assisië on May 9 and 10 in Biezenmortel, near Tilburg. The exhibition also features work by @tommysmits.tommysmits and @heykatrein , both of whom previously completed a residency at De Sam.  During the festival, Nina van de Ven will host a free sidewalk chalk-drawing workshop, where participants will collaboratively create large-scale fantasy creatures.  See you there! 📚 Festival Nabij

Samen creëren we hier meer dan alleen een programma: grote pronkstukken, maar ook de kleinste details in de Nachtzuster zijn gemaakt door makers. Een voorbeeld van deze gemaakte dingen zijn; de huisstijl, de graffiti in de keuken en het logo. 🧑🏼‍🎨 We lichten deze keer de maker uit van: 𝓭𝓮 𝓻𝓪𝓪𝓶𝓼𝓽𝓲𝓬𝓴𝓮𝓻𝓼🪟 Nina van de Ven verwezenlijkte, letterlijk, de klinkers van De Nachtzuster tot kunstwerken. In haar werk creëert Nina van de Ven een persoonlijk universum, gebaseerd op de kracht van visuele verhalen. De objecten, motieven en symbolen die ze in haar tekeningen combineert, zijn afkomstig uit uiteenlopende bronnen: historisch, occult of alledaags, en zitten boordevol verwijzingen, zowel naar de geschiedenis als naar de popcultuur. Nina huurt een atelier bij Ateliers Tilburg op locatie NS16.
