☀️WORKSHOP ALERT☀️— Communal Release for Workers’ Bodies! Join us on Aug 23 or Sept 14 from 12-1:30pm for this special workshop facilitated by Nerissa Tunnessen. You can find us @hallpasshallpasshallpass , 319 N. 11th St. $10-20 suggested sliding scale (and no one turned away for lack of funds).
About the workshop:: This communal release workshop is an active practice for people working in active professions such as the agricultural or service industries. As those who work in these fields know, full-body, repetitive, and load-bearing actions change our bodies’ physiology in a way that modern exercise, stretch, and therapeutic practices often overlook or exacerbate. We may find ourselves with chronic soreness, unevenly distributed muscle tone, and overuse injuries. This workshop will focus on connecting and balancing the body using a mix of techniques for muscular release and somatic awareness. Each class will follow a similar framework, slowly adding new ideas into an established practice. Partnered activities will be used as a tool to deepen and personalize release.
Absolutely no dance experience is necessary for this workshop. If you work a physical job and feel like you need a good stretch, this class is for you.
About the facilitator:: Nerissa Tunnessen @_nerissat_ is a Philly based dancer, choreographer, and educator with a passion for restorative movement.
