In a true display of Valentines grossness, we the Penguins have an announcement; at 8:04am at Bubbles and Bass, floating on an inflatable mattress in the middle of a paddock with some of our best friends, we decided to make this weird and wacky entanglement forreal and official, to one day soon become Mr and Mrs Penguin.

We’re uber excited to be brining @franca_plays to Tauranga the weekend after @splorefestival . With support from two local ladies @salty_chops and @missbmusic77 It’s a trifecta of bad ass babes who know how to throw down and throw one hell of a party!
Its just over 24 hours until our inaugural event. @roryrosenberg and I have been dreaming up Screw Loose for about half a year now, and its taken a lot of scheming, dreaming, and waiting to get here. On the precipice I'm nervous, but excited. I've ran sound systems, stage managed, and supported many many events, but its been quite a while since I've been a part of running one.
If this goes well it will be the start of a long-term commitment to introducing more music, art, and rave culture to the wider Tauranga area that's received me so warmly. Rory and I both know so many uniquely weird, wonderful, and truly brilliant performers and creative artists and we'd so love to bring them all here to share.
Our ticket costs are low because we want to see as many of you as we can, as well as make our events more accessible to all wage brackets. We pay our artists and contributors what they're worth, no excuses. The flipside is if an event doesn't sell a solid amount of tickets then we will be personally covering these expenses.
If you support our values and intentions, please grab a ticket and come be a part tomorrow's musical exploration. There's a few left. If you'd like to go the extra mile (kilometer?) please invite your friends and get the word out to more souls.

Far out, I've got a gig to announce! Music has really fallen by the wayside this half of the year. I've been head down supporting family through some difficult times, working my ass to the bone, 50 hour weeks for a long time. But gosh, have I really missed gigs and performance.
I'm so very stoked, not only due to my favourite @mamamanagementnz1 for booking me, but also to be getting down at arguably my favourite venue in the country @devillecafe . Best gigs, best hosts, best parties hands down. And a line-up alongside two of my favourite people is just *chefs kiss* I've been really quite tired with everything, so I'm gonna try my very best to stay awake as long as possible, as apparently that's become very hard 🥲
There was a time where if I heard the name of a pop artist that I didn't like I might say something along the lines of "ewww no thanks" or "come on really?" as a reaction. Over the years, some wonderful people in my life (@tashysaurus was a big one, thank you) helped me understand, beyond my own ego, that music is for everybody. Life is subjective. We have our own tastes, we experience our own events, and the music that latches to them. Who was I to outwardly put down and judge others on their tastes and special, unique memories?
Years later, I've not only curbed that particular habit and been more accepting and less judgey, but I've been released and awakened. Thanks to my love @j_rosella I've had numerous car rides listening to @britneyspears_._ , @madonna , @peachesnisker , @kylieminogue , more Britney, and @ladygaga , and a healthy does of "It's Raining Men" amongst countless others. And I tell you what, now that i'm actively listening - absolute bangers. The height of production in their time. What a joy to be able to look past that resistance and actually listen to the hearty synths, melodies, progression, and stunning vocals in these tracks with open ears and open mind.
Tonight, Jay and I have dressed up at home to listen to Lady Gaga's new album. Partly because I love her and want to do everything she does, but the rest because I'm like "fuck yeah Gaga what have you got for me?".

Throwback to @luckystar_hq Variety Show two weekends ago for what is likely one of my favourite sets recently and definitely one of the all-time best audiences.
Your energy and enthusiasm was infectious, encouraging me to draw ever deeper into the odder ends of my collection, which resulted in only ever more whoops and hollers. This moment of being in the energy feedback loop is a favourite state of mine. Thank you for allowing it.
