[LINEAGE AND LATITUDE]
A Group Exhibition Mapping Threads of Shared Practice and Expanding Possibility
Opening May 24th at The IW Gallery, LINEAGE AND LATITUDE brings together eighteen artists who trace their development through a common academic lineage at Pratt Institute, while forging paths that diverge in intent, form, and sensibility. These are not works in dialogue because of surface similarity, but because of something more elusive: a shared fluency, an echo of place, a rigor that persists beyond critique and coursework.
The exhibition spans a wide range of disciplines and media; painting, sculpture, installation, design, yet what emerges is a quiet cohesion, grounded not in aesthetic uniformity but in the underlying questions the artists ask of their materials and of the world. Some works lean into structure; others dissolve it. Certain gestures appear fugitive and expressive; others are architectural, deliberate, and exacting.
Featuring work by Aileen Schretzmayer, Avery Shuster, Claire Heidinger, Elizabeth Hackenberg, Eric Geithner, Greta Schneider, Herok, Hyun Sun Ohm, Monique Kevita Edwards, Nazli Efe, Rodrigo Tafur, Siha Park, Susan Luss, Wei Yuan, Yedda Ye, Yeon Jong Jeong, Yerang Moon, and Zakariya Abdul-Qadir, the exhibition charts a constellation of practices, each distinct, yet tethered by a shared origin. What begins in one place extends outward. What is learned is transformed.
