THANK YOU to everyone who came out last night for the opening of âDouble or Nothingâ Iâm overwhelmed by the support and love! (I also forgot to get photos with everybody- Iâm sorry!) I worked like a maniac over the past year creating this show; it feels very fulfilling for it to be finished, and out for the world to see! The show hangs for the whole month of September- so if you missed it thereâs still time! Also the online gallery is live! Link in my bio â¨
It is a very surreal, yet amazing experience to see the culmination of two years of work, creation, and planning. It has been an immense honor and privilege to curate and plan this show. It is with much excitement that I can now say that âBetter Together: ArtMixâs Snapshot of True Inclusionâ is officially hanging, and open to the public in the Waller gallery at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, at Newfields (say that 5 times fast)! I hope our audience can feel our love for art, for ArtMix, and can share in our vision of inclusion and access to the arts.
To the artists: I am so so proud of each of you. Thank you for trusting me with your beautiful artwork, and for reading my many, many, lengthy emails (which I know youâll dearly miss <3) This show is such a beautiful, diverse, joyful display. Thank you!
To those looking for the sappy backstory: When I first came to ArtMix over a decade ago, I had no idea how intertwined my life would become with this organization. Itâs been a wonderful journey- Iâve been an Urban Artisan, a volunteer (and not to brag or anything but I was tooootally the volunteer of the year in 2016đ ), a Teaching Assistant, Teaching Artist, and now the Gallery Director. I have spent so much of my life in the ArtMix studios learning about art and life; I owe much of who I am today to ArtMixâs current and former staff, students, and community. My time with ArtMix has always been eventful (probably even too eventful), and filled with so much laughter, joy, creativity. It is not lost on me that I am very very lucky to have found a home at ArtMix, doing what I love with people I love, thank you đ
(âŚAnd now I can finally get my first decent nights rest in two years! đâ¨)
