After the deep listening, healing frequencies and verdant visuals of Room To: Reflect, our ambient series continues with collaborations from Public Dreaming, Emily Zurowski and Pooyan Saadati.
Public dreaming is a Manchester based entity of artists, bints, dossers and messers. Seeking to reimagine public space through sensory exploration, sonic experimentation and collective dreaming. Through current workshops and installations they use sound to explore and actualise our collective dreams. The outcome is a malleable and shifting organism that is defined by its participants, audience and collaborators.
In renae they will explore the theme of process - the transitional space between day and night, the marks we leave on the space around us, the marks the space leaves on us. How can we stay present in these shifting states?

The event will be soundtracked by:
Emily Zurowski, a Scottish composer, sound artist and performer based in Manchester. Her practice encompasses immersive, interactive and socially-engaged projects. She is an active collaborator with the filmmakers Maire Tracey (BBC, National Geographic) and Beck Cooley (Beyond The Music, Manchester Psych Festival), produces left-field pop music as Modema, and has worked as a session musician with artists like The Orielles and WH Lung. She is particularly interested in experimental forms of audio documentary, soundscape composition and exploring ways of transforming and elevating everyday sounds.
Pooyan, an Iranian DJ, producer, and the founder of the Plastic Monolith label. Now based in Manchester, he started out in 2018, inspired by the underground scene in Tehran. Before moving to the UK in 2023, he spent time in Istanbul playing at spots like Kastel, Suma Han, and Beykoz Kundura. Since arriving, he’s played at Tunnels in Aberdeen, as well as Stag & Radio, Renae and DBA in Manchester. Pooyan’s music is defined by hypnotic techno, minimal rhythms, and atmospheric bleeps.

And you know us… we’re party people at heart. To celebrate the public launch of the other people place, we’re throwing a free-entry, two-floor FUN-ction this Saturday night.
Down in renae, Zèyla takes the controls from early doors, seamlessly shifting through dancehall, Latin and funk before Ayy Den tags in at midnight, giving energetic house, snappy electro and wall-shaking UK funky. You know how Saturdays feel in renae - the best people, the best tunes, the best time, but now there’s more.
Things kick off in t.o.p.p. at 10, as queer musician and DJ Modema fills the room with dark, dubbed-out downtempo, dreamy breaks and flirtations with light-footed techno - the perfect introduction to the 4-point Syva system and a sound tailor-made for this intimate space.
At midnight, Aletha and Yant step up for a high-octane B2B, trading house, electro and dub techno weapons deep into the night. Low lights, high haze, and the right tunes to move you till close.

A Midnight Detour w/ Modema
Buzzin to have the supremely talented @_modem_a guest on this month's AMD.
'Last November we were lucky enough to have Modema come down and play the second ever AMD live show. She blew us away that night, so we’ve invited her back - this time to curate an hour of experimental ambient and downtempo sounds. Expect to be spellbound, as she guides us through a delicate, eerie, deep, and introspective cosmic midnight excursion.'
