Before & after 👀 Finally sharing our Johannesburg #renovation with you guys! Putting this together made me teary. What an incredible, crazy journey. A friend told me recently he thought we were nuts and didn’t see the vision. My crazy brain could picture it from our first viewing and @woonbycandicej ’s renderings of our idea gave us the faith and conviction that we could do it. We did it. Along with the most incredible builder, team, suppliers and contractors of course. Today the boys told me they miss the builders 🤣 I feel like I’m showing you my broekies by sharing this, but here goes nothing and I would love to hear what you think. And thank you all for being so kind and supportive on this journey. Living in a reno with small kiddos isn’t for the faint of heart, and I’m eternally grateful to my husband and family for their patience, love and support throughout. We made it out on the other side! We’ve only been living in it for 2 weeks and it already feels like home. It flows and functions so beautifully and the light and air that flows through is magic. The floors are in 😱 Month 3 of our Johannesburg renovation and transforming our 80s face-brick home and I can’t believe it’s the same space. Floors, paint, aluminium, doors and windows; I can smell the finish line. Well, for this phase at least. In the next month we’ll complete this phase which is the communal spaces. And when we’ve come up for air we’ll do bedrooms and bathrooms. I’ve listed the suppliers I’ve used below for those of you who might be about to embark on a journey like this yourselves. A little bar before and after featuring narrow-profile concrete tops that I didn’t know existed until I stumbled upon these from @wolkberg_casting_studios ✨ I’ve only ever seen super chunky ones that are poured on site and I wanted something a bit more delicate and interesting. Mine are the colour Luna and I’m absolutely obsessed with them; they’re custom-made and each one is completely unique. There’s a lot of movement and mottling which makes them so pretty to look at. I loved seeing how their products are made and this female-owned business is a power house. I’ve obsessed over their products at @decorexafrica every year and I’m so chuffed that we finally had a space to incorporate them! AI convinced us to buy our 80s Johannesburg home, and I’m not even kidding. I scrolled past the thumbnail on Property24 so many times and one day decided to plug a few images into an app called Remodel AI. I wanted to get a sense of what we could achieve with paint, rough plastering the bricks and some beautiful external lighting and I knew she was the one.
