last saturday Jope @fangis.klamotten and i performed an experimental set involving sewing machines, software and guitar.
In the making of this performance we realized quickly that our work flows are very simmilar. Both randomply collect samples and put them on a pile until they seem fit for a certain vision or expression and start connecting piece by piece until it holds itself together as one. So the concept was to play a set in which Jope sews the last hoodie of his latest collection and i take the sounds of the machines and weave them into my fabric of pre produced tracks, rhythms, fieldrecordings and fragments of tracks i wrote in the past few weeks.
We installed a contact mic on the scissors and the foot pedal each and Jope had one hand held mic to capture different sounds from different parts of the machines. The sounds were sent through different effect chains to create harmonic layers in the background and sharp edged spontanious rhytmical eruptions swirling through the room. Also it felt super natural to refracture my own works through the lense of a hands on production process like producing a hoodie:) thank you so much Jope for the trust and the relaxed times shared <3 also big love to Bernard @mensch_bernard for being so available with your presence and your space and material and advice <3
It was a huge pleasure to perform this and i'm much looking forward to further explore the concept hihi

After co-running dreamchannel and releasing music under his mirrorange alias, Soil is now moving new ways under a new name. As a DJ he sets out to explore his deep love for crooked rhythms. Throughout the last few years, rhythm and dancing have become therapeutically important in soils life. Behind the decks he drifts back and forth between bass-boosted dub swingers and razor sharp rhythms, often carried by a nostalgic emotional dynamic throughout the set ✨
As a producer, he is experimenting in the overlaps of dance music, pop, rnb, experimental and indie influences. Styles and approaches that informed his way of listening and thinking music as they infuenced his personality in great ways. In the project soil, he found a fitting output to bring these streams together

«härzig» ist klein, flauschig, rund, warm und weich. Doch ist «härzig» schlicht unschuldig und hilflos? Denn es scheint, als schleiche sich der Jö-Effekt fern von klar definierbaren Zuschreibungen in unsere Körper und unterwandert unsere Systeme. Die installative Performance «härzig» ist eine spielerische Auseinandersetzung mit dem Lustgarten des niedlichen Gefühls und lädt zur gemeinsamen Konsumation des Härzigen mit all seinen Ecken und Kanten ein – zur Zelebration einer anti-patriarchalen Intimität.
