About the art 💭
This linocut was co-created with @grace_wangg by accident! Our print board broke unevenly, so we each took a piece and decided to set a timer - switching boards every minute without speaking, going back and forth until the piece felt complete.
It was a strangely silent conversation through shapes, rhythm, and surrender. Sometimes we’d start carving an idea, only to have it interrupted and transformed when the board returned. Neither of us felt particularly confident in abstract or improvised art, but it was cathartic. Re: our talks earlier in the day of how we might find ‘home’ by releasing our expectation and being present with what is.
Featuring tender words by Gitau, the beautiful house itself, Sound Garden through Hoya’s eyes, and the yummiest dessert by Harry.
