International Day of Pink 2026
Today, April 8th, 2026, is the International Day of Pink. It’s a day where communities around the world come together to celebrate inclusion and diversity and raise awareness to stop all forms of discrimination and bullying — whether based on race, age, gender, sexuality, or ability. In a world that continues to feel divided and uncertain, it is a good reminder that compassion, courage, and community matter more than ever.
I’ll be sharing images from what is now a decade-long personal project. Each year I photograph my son and his classmates to mark the occasion, and each year they add their voices to it — sharing their thoughts, perspectives, and growing wisdom on the themes at the heart of this day.
It is hard to believe what began as a simple portrait series, ten years ago, has grown into something far more beautiful and meaningful — an evolving document of childhood, conscience, and character. I am continually moved by how much these young people have grown. Watching their perspectives deepen and mature, while their essential spirit remains, is one of the great privileges of this project.
This year I’ve asked them to reflect on a question that sits at the very root of what this day is about — why do you think people bully? Their answers, as always, are honest, thoughtful, and often profound. There is something powerful about hearing children wrestle with this question; in doing so, they begin to dismantle it.
These shoot days remain one of the highlights of my year. I am deeply grateful to every child, family, and supporter who helps make it possible. Here’s to ten years of bright stars — may they keep shining.
