Munich has such a calm confidence about it. Beautiful in a quiet way. You walk through places like Marienplatz, sit near the Isar, wander into the English Garden which is somehow bigger than some actual forests 😄 and the city just slowly grows on you. Beautiful architecture, clean streets, people out cycling everywhere and somehow even the silence feels organized. Really enjoying this city. 🇩🇪

Thank you to @dokfest ❤️ for welcoming The People Shall and for creating space for such meaningful conversations. The screening, the panel, the people in the room… it was all special. Grateful to share the panel with the great @stellanyanzi , her energy, enthusiasm and knowledge is ever so invaluable, super-talented director @nitumwesiga who directed “The Woman Who Poked The Leopard, this was a work of art. Thank you Maria for your input on the panels d for what Misereor is doing. Barbara, thank you so much for putting this together and for moderating the session so elegantly. This film continues to travel and with it, we carry Nick Wambugu @nickwambugu (producer, Co-director and DOP). It means a lot to honour him in spaces like this. I wish you were here bro. 🥲 For many reasons. Well done to the whole team and I cannot thank you enough for all the effort you have put into this film. The last time I won a Kalasha was in 2015. Since then, I've taken the award winning short film, Neophobia to Cannes, where it became the only African film screening there that year. That journey introduced me to great people like Barry Jenkins, and yes, I also got to meet Will Smith. Neophobia went on to win 14 awards. I also directed and edited The Editor, which won over 6 awards. The journey then took me to Germany where I studied further film at the prestigious Film akadamie Baden-Wurttemberg and worked on several projects after school while there, then to Nigeria, where I worked with EbonyLife whose projects include titles like Blood Sisters, The King’s Horseman, The Wedding Party and Oloture and now back home again. When I returned, I wanted to reintroduce myself through work. Big Girl Small World as Senior Editor. MTV Shuga as Editor. And now The People Shall, which I directed with Nick Wambugu. So this win carries pride. It carries gratitude. It carries a lot of heart. On Saturday night, The People Shall won Best Documentary and I won Best Editor for the film. It feels like a return, like the work is speaking again. And the journey is still moving. The People Shall is also nominated for the AMVCA and selected for DOK.fest München, which I’m deeply excited about. ❤️ What a beautiful way to say, I’m back. #ThePeopleShall #KalashaAwards #BestEditor #BestDocumentary #NickWambugu AMVCA DOKfestMuenchen

Every room has a story. On 26th March 2026, at Africa Legal Network Kenya, we shared one and opened the floor to many more. From panelists to audience voices, the conversation didn’t just stay on screen, it lived in the room. #filmandlaw #postproductionkenya #throwback
