katy is the best friend i have ever had and the second record we have made is out today. it’s an honor to share any of life with her, let alone the humbling way that she trusts me and Alberto with her incredible songs. here's a bunch of stuff that didn't ~quite~ make it onto the album!
it took me a second to realize, but in some ways we have been making this record ever since i first moved to new york in the spring of 2021. katy helped me move and stayed for a sec in an apartment in the east village. that’s where she played me Blue Raspberry for the first time, up there above the Bagel Boss. the first record hadn’t even been out half a year yet and we were still eons away from any touring being on the horizon. looking back at that time and surveying everything we’ve done since then feels kaleidoscopic.
so there’s a lot of our lives wrapped up in this album – katy’s most obviously, but i can also map certain notes, chord changes, lyrical/arrangement decisions, etc to specific eras and places that have filled my life since i set about making a home here. i’ve met SO MANY OF YOU in that time and am also honored+humbled by the way that y’all too have let me share in the music of your lives. it’s really all i want to do and i’m stoked to do it even more in this new year.
so much of it was made possible by the things i’ve learned with katy working in studios & stages across the country. so thanks again, katy, congrats and i love you!

"Cool Dry Place" out on all platforms now.✨ I think I can speak for everyone involved when I say that it's been one of the great prides of my musical career to have been included in the process of making this record. The world is lucky to have an artist like @katykirbs in it, and I can't even come close to describing my gratitude at having been blessed by both the music and the friendship that brought her album to fruition.
Somehow, we're short on decent photos and videos of everyone. But whatever role you played, you're a fucking rock star, thank you thank you thank you.
