Slightly belated, but delighted to be chosen as a finalist at this year’s upcoming @fragrancefoundationuk Jasmine Awards, where my @dazedbeauty article on the history of scent and sex work has been nominated for Best Literary piece. An honour to sit in a category amongst such incredible talents, and a constant joy to get to write about fragrance in this way. congratulations to all fellow finalists!! 👃 🌺 and a special thanks to @akbpeters , editor of dreams who has always made space for me to go deeep into my passion for perfume ❤️ (and noo insta I am not AI 😭😭).
Latest piece for Dazed Beauty, exploring a long-term obsession of mine: from the soot and sweat of Roman lupanaria, to the perfumed fantasies of 19th-century Parisian maisons closes, and on to sickly sweet body sprays and portable yoni steamers in the 21st century. Thank you, as always, @akbpeters@dazedbeauty ❤️ 🔗 in bio.
A *pleasure* to be part of @sharmadeanreid ‘s Pleasure Salon, celebrating her new chapter on pleasure in the paperback edition of New Methods in the paradisal @theroofgardens . I shared some reflections on pleasure and the imagination, reading my favourite submissions from Nancy Friday’s collections of women’s anonymous fantasies. thrilled as ever by the utopian pleasure cities a bored suburban housewife can dream up 🏹 🦚 💕
Congratulations @chng.xmng on the most beautiful launch for @jouissanceparfums . Pictured alongside @ecstasy_cookbook ‘s feast. Big mounds of butter, little tiny quail eggs and pots of salt, shocking pink pepper and patchouli gravlax, big big big trifle, lots of cream. suitably Bataille
The more the merrier! My latest piece for @feeldco exploring depictions of groups in contemporary erotic art, and what these works can tell us about desire in the digital age. Discussing paintings by Cecily Brown, @damnbera , @sslappey , @georgerouy Thank you thank you @haleymlotek . Link in bio :~)
Latest piece for @rediscovering_art_by_women on Leonor Fini, and using our erotic imagination to transcend the everyday mundane. To say Leonor Fini is an inspiration of mine is an understatement: her ideas have radically shaped how I think about art, life, love, and desire. When I studied Fini a few years ago, my mind was too hazy to articulate what I really wanted to say. It’s been good to revisit some of these thoughts with a clarity that her work deserves 🐈⬛ Link in Bio 🔮#womenartists #leonorfini #womensurrealists
