Abyssal Alchemy
Where Metal Meets the Sea.
There is a place, in the dark depths of the oceans, where the earth releases heat and minerals through hydrothermal vents.
Here, the encounter between iron and sulfur compounds generates an aesthetic of controlled chaos: these are sulfurous oxidations, processes that transform bare metal into structures with burnished, green, and iridescent hues, forged by pressure and time.
My tables are born from this very inspiration. By using copper sulfate, I sought to accelerate this profound dialogue.
The oxidation process occurring on the metal’s surface is not mere decoration, but a living reaction: just like the deposits of metal sulfides on the seabed, the patina develops in layers, creating organic and unique textures.
Each piece is a fragment of this “underwater landscape” brought to light. It is not merely worked metal, but matter that has undergone a chemical metamorphosis, capturing the essence of those millennia-old processes in which the mineral element becomes pure art.
