I’m really in LOVE with this show! Like inject it in my veins!!! Lol. I’m humbled and honored to work with such an EXCELLENT, SUPPORTIVE, CREATIVE cast and crew. The way everyone has poured their vaginal juices into this work collectively is truly inspiring. I can only pray to have kept up. A Jury Of Our Queers is such an important show. Such a SMART show! A TIMELY and TIMELESS show. You’d honestly be doing yourself a treat coming to see us play this weekend. It’s funny.. it’s geigh… it’s legend… it’s CAMP! But most importantly, it’s love. Super humbled and excited to announce I’ll be directing two works in this festival! This, to me, feels so special because it feels in part like a tribute to my poppop! Miguel Algarin was one of the founders of the Nuyorican whom I loved very very much and learned so much from. I directed a performance he did at Wayne State a few years back. He listened to me, wholeheartedly. He trusted me. I had just ventured into directing and this legend was really taking notes from the kid. So this in ways feels full circle. As well as putting up work along side the big homie reg e gaines, I feel like I’m winning something lol. To be tackling works that deal with family, heritage, identity and queerness feels justified. I’m not usually into the super visibility thing. I do my little projects, mind my business, and let the girls have their fun. Hours of audio/video research, long rehearsals, and restorative circles brings us to the premiere of HOMEless. Thankful @roddpro asked me to be a dramaturg for @stubbornmvmt . This has been such a fulfilling experience! I can’t wait for everyone to see such an immersive, honest show. My heart is still so full. So grateful. So humbled. This process wasn’t no bitch! Trying to promote, raise money, create, plan, and still hold on to values rooted in restorative processes wasn’t easy but the feedback and love received made it all worth it. I’m still working through to process it all. This weekend, once again, the ladies pulled at my wig cap. @thewrithersproject has surpassed any expectations I could’ve had at its genesis. I’m amazed at the talent and light displayed. Love to all the incredible souls involved on stage and off! Especially these girls, man. #GirlzNDaHood is really a love letter, a memoir, a testimonial to the power of owning our truth! @negratienesazon pulls on my nerves like no other but I couldn’t ever find anyone who could put up with my shit like she does so I guess she has to stay lol. @amelyon helped me to see that it wasn’t about the result but all that’s been learned in the process. I’m holding on to that both for this and other endeavors. Thank you. Thank you to everyone that showed love, came out, donated, shared kind words. It’s love. It’s always been love.
